Petco - Clybourn

Vetco was great, they were very helpful and super friendly. The aquatics section on the other hand was terrible. There were dead fish in each and every tank piled up, and the salt water tank was spewing bubbles indicating an empty sump which can be harmful for the saltwater fish. I tried to talk to an associate about it but they just told me simply “ok” and then did nothing about it the whole time I was there. I will come back for Vetco but that is it.

Great place to get essentials. One of the tall, Caucasian, male cashiers tried to insinuate that I was cheap because I didn’t want to buy the cat food that was going to expire in literally 7 days. So one of his male Hispanic coworkers came up to the register and checked his attitude then checked me out. Very good service

Fully stocked shelves and helpful staff. They have grooming and a vet on site but I did not use those services. Very clean.

Decent location. Ordered curbside but didn’t matter. No one was picking up the phone so had to go inside the store. What’s the point in curbside pick up option? I completely get that retail gets busy but I walked in and was able to get my things soon as I walked in no line. Personally, just do pick up. Petco probably needs to revamp their curbside pick up system like Target and other stores have.

These betas look very sad in this small containers. And the tortoise food has mold on it! Yuk! Please clean it!

Giving Zero star to the grooming department if it was an option. Very unprofessional and definitely unmotivated individuals who must hate their job. If you expect anything other than bare minimum, I suggest staying away from wasting your time to schedule appointment with their grooming service. They saw my Pomeranian coat and started making excuses for rescheduling because they clearly do not know how to handle anything but basic grooming service. They also accused me of lying when I pressed them on rationale for rescheduling and bringing up store policy about medications while my puppy was clearly not sedated. I was already disappointed in waiting area as I was watching how they interacted with the dogs they were working on and wasn't sure if I felt comfortable leaving my dog with them, but their behavior confirmed that they will never get to touch my puppy with their attitude. They could use basic customer service and grooming training and perhaps decency to admit that they hate their job or don't know how to handle certain breeds. Petco hire people who love their job so they are not so miserable and rude to your customer. You definitely lost my business which may not matter now but it will catch up to you at some point if you keep loosing customers.

If you're in or near Lincoln Park, this is the better of the two Petco. This seems newer, and you can tell because the feeders are alive, everything works, and they just seem to have more in stock at any given time.

My pup got a great summer haircut, Bianca was amazing, friendly and did a great job!

I highly recommend Joseph as a groomer! I was nervous to drop my dog off for her first ever haircut since I adopted her, but Joseph was so gentle with her and he had great recommendations for how she should get trimmed! I can tell he was sweet to my dog and he was a pleasure to work with. I will definitely be coming back to him in the future.

I love having this pet store in my neighborhood. They always have what I need for my dog. Pearl.
