Who We Are
OPTS is a 100% PT owned, outpatient orthopaedic and sports therapy practice. We specialize in the examination and treatment of back and neck pain, general musculoskeletal injuries and more. Our therapists have Doctorate level degrees and over 15 years of clinical experience. We are dedicated to your recovery and lifestyle goals.
We get you better, faster!
Teaching our patients how to return to and maintain a pain-free and full-functioning lifestyle is our goal. We empower our patients to self-manage their symptoms and prevent future injury and pain recurrence.
Meet the Business Owner: Peter J. van Twuyver, DPT, OCS.
Peter has over 15 years of experience in manual therapy of the spine and extremities as well as in sports physical therapy. He has been trained in the McKenzie Method for management of spine and extremity dysfunction, and he has personally trained with Dr. Stanley Paris (Norwegian Approach) and Brian Mulligan (Mulligan Concept), who are internationally renowned Physical Therapists.
Peter's doctoral work included advanced training in manual therapy and sports physical therapy. Over the course of his career, Peter has developed a unique and eclectic program of manual therapy and patient education through which he trains his patients to manage their own musculoskeletal problems.
Peter worked in NJ, PA, NH, and MA for over a decade, learning what worked and what didn't work in outpatient Physical Therapy. During that time, he trained with world-renowned therapists, earning two Bachelor Degrees, a Masters Degree, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, working hard to perfect his clinical skills. From these experiences, he created a vision of a Physical Therapy practice where the therapists were trained to be expert clinicians, had the ability to get patients better faster, and enabled their patients to remain better after completing therapy. In 2006, that vision became a reality with the opening of the first OPTS location in West Peabody.
