The ALPHA PHI chapter of the oldest professional pharmacy fraternity in the nation, PHI DELTA CHI.
Phi Delta Chi was founded on November 2, 1883, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor under the supervision of Albert Benjamin Prescott. The eleven men who were essential to its founding were Charles Edward Bond, Franklin Herbert Frazee, Llewellyn Hall Gardner, Calvin Pomeroy Godfrey, Adolph Gustave Hoffman, Charles F. Hueber, George Pawling Leamon, Arthur Sidney Rogers, Azor Thurston, Albert Tenney Waggoner, and Arthur Gilliam Hopper. The original objective of Phi Dex as established by these men still holds true, as Phi Delta Chi continues developing LEADERS IN PHARMACY and BROTHERS FOR LIFE.
In the same spirit of service and brotherhood, 12 men on December 28, 1955, would found the Alpha Phi chapter that still brings out the best in Butler University pharmacy students today: Carl Erdmann, Jay Gibbs, Karl Hunt, George Klein, John Kozar, Charles Poulton, John Rupich, William Schaffer, Loren Toler, Edmund Trojan, Robert Weimer, and Robert Wilson.
