Local public school districts refer students to The Philadelphia High school for admission. The student’s social and emotional ages, chronological age, and academic levels determine classroom placement. We use an interdisciplinary team approach, coordinating the knowledge and techniques from education, psychology, psychiatry, social work, parent/guardian, and articulating community agencies. Student-centered staffings occur on a monthly basis. Our staff members assist each student in reaching his/her academic, social, personal, and vocational goals. Certified content area teachers work collaboratively with special education teachers to provide students with appropriately adapted content from the general curriculum. Younger students are prepared to transition to regular or special education classes in their own communities. Older students are prepared to transition to post-secondary training, employment, and residential and/or recreational options
