Founded in 1986, the mission of the Philadelphia Writing Project is to enhance the teaching of writing as a critical tool for learning.
The Philadelphia Writing Project is a local site of the National Writing Project. Its local host is the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. There are nearly 700 members, called Teacher Consultants, in the Philadelphia Writing Project. These members represent K-16 classrooms and all content areas in addition to educational administrators.
