Philips UV-block technology
All Philips halogen headlamps feature advanced anti-UV technology that blocks harmful UV rays without altering the lighting. Your modern transparent optics stay clear—and Philips headlamps shine brightly and powerfully for a long time.
Philips xenon technology
Philips introduced the xenon HID lamp to the market in 1991.
Xenon HID lamps (High Intensity Discharge) contain a mixture of gases including xenon. Unlike a halogen lamp that uses a filament, an electric arc is created between two electrodes to generate the light source. In order to function, a xenon lamp requires an electronic starter, for a quicker start, as well as a ballast. The intense white light produced by the Xenon HID lamps is comparable to daylight. The Xenon HID lamp offers twice as much light and greater visibility than a halogen lamp, while consuming less power.
Studies have demonstrated that xenon automotive lighting helps drivers to concentrate on the road and to distinguish obstacles and road signs much faster than traditional lamps. The result is safer driving in all conditions. Xenon HID automotive lamps last about 3000 hours.
