The clinic I went to sent me to the ER at Piedmont. I have health insurance and good thing because my bill was outrageous. My insurance paid the bulk of it, but my deductible was over $1,800. My rent and utilities are killing me at $1,500 monthly. I called the billing department at the hospital and tried to make payment arrangements, but they wouldn't go and less than $75 per month. I told them I would pay what I could and I did, and I told them I have to get a second part-time job. Their department kept calling me at work and told them to stop 3 or 4 times and I put it in writing. I told them I could not receive calls at work, and they were putting me at risk of losing my job. They finally stopped calling, and I found a second part-time job and have been paying something every month. These people are ruthless and have now mailed a "FINAL NOTICE" saying I have 30 days to pay the balance or they will send my account to collections. I am a single lady working my butt off trying to survive after the Pandemic and in this recession. If they send it to collections and ruin my credit, it is not in their best interest....you would think they would appreciate the fact that I am making an effort to pay this bill. In addition to this bill I have bills from the clinic I go to. Since this has happened, I now found out that other people have told me that would never go to this hospital. A hospital is supposed to be a caring facility that puts their patients first and not make threats.
Let me just say I was impressed by the staff that took care of my husband directly and as a hospital. My husband was admitted into the ICU in a coma 8/8/23. He is on a long road to recovery now but during that time.. the doctors did everything to ensure my husbands life. From the ICU to the step down unit to his case manager, everyone who played a role in where he’s at now.. thank you!
My dad was admitted to Piedmont last week for a bad infection. They are severely understaffed & lack communication with patients/ their families. He was kept in the ER for 2 days because they didn’t have a bed for him. It took them a full day and a half to do a test and have a doctor read it- once he was moved to an actual floor nobody came by to sit him up each day he has weakness from a stroke so movement is crucial a therapist came by to work with him one time and recommended rehab since he was weak from laying in a bed so long. Once they started the process for rehab it was incredibly slow and they did not communicate well with us. He sat in the hospital all weekend waiting for an assessment from a rehab center they told us was coming out to see him Monday- just to find out that the rehab center had communicated to them on friday that they couldn’t accept him. In other words, he sat there an extra 3 days because they didn’t bother to read the note or tell us! Then they offered one other awful rehab center or going home with home care. They left us with no good options and left him extra weak because of the lack of attention/ care. On top of that he was transported home to us with a blood stained & soiled gown. Some of the nurses / case managers were great & helpful but overall, the lack of communication & incompetence at this hospital leads me to tell you to please never take your loved ones here. What could have been a 3 day stay, turned into one week because of how slow they operated & how completely understaffed they are . I’ve never had such an awful experience.
This was an absolute horrible experience I showed up around 5:00 with a gash in my leg that needed stitches. We had to wait in the waiting room for over an hour before I was even sent back. During this time a man has came in who seemed extremely disoriented and was complaining of a severe headache the nurses at the front laughed at him every time he had come over to complain about it. While we waiting to get looked at by one of them the girl at the front looked to one of the nurses and said “he’s the next one your gonna have to deal with” and they started to giggle amongst themselves. Even if this man was on something that was causing him to be disoriented it is your job to help that person and take care of them when they come asking for help these are some of the most judgmental nurses I have ever seen. Continuing on with myself I waited in the hallway for 2 hours waiting for stitches during this time I had met the doctor who was going to do them and told me she would be back shortly. 2 hours had passed before she had come back to do them but she had forgotten some medical supplies for this she then disappeared for another 30 minutes before she came back to do them. Once she had finally done them she told me she would be back in a minute to dress the stitches and an hour later I was sick and tired of waiting and the only person who seem to care was another nurse and she got everything I needed and got me discharged. On top of all of this while waiting the 6 hours my boyfriend had sat behind me in the same chairs me and another woman was sat in we had not once seen anyone come by and clean these chairs after having people leave now that we are home me and him are both itchy and he’s covered in a rash.
My mom was taken to the ER on July 18, 2023. The ER doctor ordered bloodwork, x-ray, and a CT Scan. Mom was admitted and diagnosed with Covid Pneumonia. My mom was in the hospital for a week and did not get any better. The hospital doctor ordered a CT Scan, MRI and ultrasound. Mom’s discharge papers listed Toxic Metabolic Encephalopathy, covid pneumonia, and a kidney stone as her diagnosis. The doctors diagnosed my mom incorrectly. On August 3, 2023, my mom was taken to a different hospital. A body scan was ordered. The body scan showed that my mom had cancer all over. The cancer was in her skull, lungs, and bones. On September 4, 2023 my mom passed away. The doctors at Piedmont Medical Center are incompetent. I do not recommend going to this hospital.
I was there two days ago. I came in with severe panic attacks. They stuck me in the hallway in a chair in the back and basically forgot about me. I never saw a doctor. I had to get up and leave and go elsewhere to get the attention that I severely needed. It was truly a shame. Then they took blood and the nurse wasn’t able to find a vein so I told her to stop because it was hurting then she writes down in my chart I refused. Not so. I believe I was treated a certain way because I was black. And not takin seriously . Case in point they didn’t even bother to call me to see if I was all right SMH.
We had nothing but great things to say about our time there. All the nurses and doctors were phenomenal and so good to us during our time on the labor and delivery floor as well as the post partum floor. We were originally nervous about the hospital when we saw the ratings and reviews, but I can’t say enough about how wonderful they all were. Thank you all for making our stay and our experience there as comfortable and pleasant as possible. To Jade, Crystal and Haily, special shout out to you three. You were amazing.
New day and a new review. Today, April 27th, my family member's life was saved. When she arrived at Piedmont, the emergency room staff was excellent. Lead by Dr. O, the medical team helped to save my loved one. The room was clean and fully staffed. They provided professional and high-quality care. The nurses were attentive and so very professional. Thank you to all of the health care staff at the Piedmont Medical Center's Emergency Room.
This is a truly horrible facility. I do not call this nor do I recognize this as a hospital. To me it is just a one-stop shop money maker. My 84-year-old dad was taken here on July 20th by rescue squad because he had fallen. He was diagnosed with Non-ST elevation MI NSTEMI,Rhabdomyolysis, Recurrent falls, CAP community acquired pneumonia, Acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, Sepsis Hyperkalemia, AKI acute kidney injury Transaminitis, Acute on chronic heart failure Dementia, Delirium. The decision was made that he would be kept comfortable. In my opinion he was not comfortable He was treated like trash that needed to be thrown away. We had traveled down over this past year and tried to help as much as possible with his care but his toenails were horrible and he was afraid he would fall if he tried to bathe so he washed in his sink because he was scared of falling. I went in and cut his toenails which were horrible. This truly made a mess around the floor I went out and asked if I could get a broom and a wash pan with some soap so I could wash my daddy's feet. I was told by the male nurse that they didn't have brooms and I couldn't have a pan. Caseworker Janna came in and I told her my concerns she went to a person in the hall and ask them if I could get a pan some soap and a broom . I wasn't allowed to clean up his room nor was I allowed to ever wash his feet for that matter wash his face. We were pretty much told that he was not going to be allowed to stay in the facility even though he was dying and we didn't have the money to get him back to Virginia. It was going to be over $5,000 to transport him. We didn't have anywhere for him to go. My sister finally got in touch with hospice got the bed and everything set up then we had to try to figure out how to get him back We were going to rent a vehicle but was unsure whether he would even be able to sit in the chair for the three plus hour drive. They were pushing us to get him out so we decided that we would lay the seats down in my blazer and put my daddy in the back for a very long ride home. We were trying to make sure we had all documents and close his house up before we left for the long trip home and we had several phone calls from the hospital wanting to know what time we were coming to pick him up. We were told that the wing that he was on had been closed down and that he would be over in the ICU unit room 7 waiting for us. When we got to the hospital to get him they had put him in a wheelchair no restraints he was just hanging over and very uncomfortable. If you read his diagnosis he has a history of falling. He was in pain from sepsis. And they had this 84-year-old man who's dying sitting in a wheelchair because God forbid they have to clean another bed. I have never seen a person that was at the end of their life being treated so inhumane. We all are going to be put in some very hard positions in our life but if you take away anything from this review please don't go to this facility especially if you have an elderly person who's at the end of their life please take them somewhere where they can at least be treated with some dignity and respect.
Took a relative to the emergency room. The lady at the front desk had the most nonchalant, careless, and mean attitude, and carried it to my relative and many others the entire 3 hours we waited. The nurse that brought my relative back was just as careless and nonchalant, and it caused me to question the care my relative would receive had I not been there. Piedmont needs to do so much better, badly. I would suggest Piedmont Fort Mill or CMC far more instead of here.
