Customer Testimonial:
My wife and I recently toured the Zion and Bryce Canyon area. We stayed at the Pioneer Lodge while in the area. I must take this opportunity to compliment you on the Lodge and Restaurant.

All of your staff were extremely courteous, knowledgable, and a credit to the establishment. The food was very good, the service quick and friendly.

The decor is excellent, the room comfortable, and the price was a pleasant surprise.

We will be back to your area again next year, and we definitely will be staying at the Pioneer Lodge.

I wouldn’t stay here again even if they paid me to. After a long flight, we drove from Vegas and got stuck in traffic for an hour due to bad weather. Arrived to hotel at 9:20pm local time. Coming from a different time zone it was 8:20pm on my watch. The lobby was closed at only 9pm. I rang the bell marked “late arrivals,” nobody answered. Called the hotel twice. Nobody answered my calls. Got lucky to find another hotel down the street which was still open, and turned it out to be much nicer for the same price. The next morning, I came to the reception desk to check in for the second day of our originally booked stay. I asked not to be charged for the previous night. The lady at the front desk told me she would pass a message along to the manager. We went to our room. Each parking space was just big enough to park a motorcycle, maybe a compact car at most. We drove a large SUV. Half of our building was burnt down and fenced off, without any signs of active rebuilding. When we entered the room, I attempted to close the curtains, only to find that they were fixed, leaving a third of the window open. Therefore, we had to sleep with streetlights beaming into our room and with zero privacy. When I went to take a shower, I found the bath towel had a hole about size of a quarter. When I opened the blanket, I spotted a silverfish crawling on the bed beside. The following morning at check out, I asked about the refund for that first night we didn’t get to stay there. The lady at the front desk told me that the manager would not issue a refund because it was a “no show”. For breakfast we were given a brown bag with a small breakfast burrito, which had to be heated in microwave, a small yogurt, and a small apple. I had to dump the brown bag and find a place with a decent food. By all means avoid this place!
The location is wonderful and the views outside are incredible. Close to food, a public laundry and bike shop. Bamboo Chinese Restaurant is right here and the food is excellent. The room I am in is older but it is clean. The beds are comfortable and clean linens and plenty of towels. The toilet makes some slight noises when flushing. The curtains are coming off but they are still ok. The AC works great. Housekeepers come about 9:30 am to see if you need any service. They are hard working and nice. There is a gap at the bottom of my door and I put towels there to prevent bugs from coming in. I am just so happy to be here at Zion National Park that these room faults are not major for me. It is hot though. Go out early in the morning or just before sunset.
Totally Awesome Place! Beds are super comfy firm and soft at same time, super clean, rustic lodge decor- not like a sterile chain hotel. Ample parking. My buddies and I rolled in w our big trucks and had no issues, great waterpressure. I mean what the heck more do people want from a 80$ stay?! Forget the complainers- I read a review below where someone literally doesn't understand that you can't pay nothing and get a 5 star Ritz Carlton Breakfast. People are dumb but this place rocks!
TLDR: I would not recommend a stay here. Overpriced, and there are plenty of other options in the Zion area. Full Story: My husband and I stayed one night in this motel after our car broke down at dusk in Zion National Park, and we needed to be towed somewhere within 5 miles. I had initially seen a great discounted rate on Google Maps, and was disappointed to learn that the motel does not price match first time I've experienced this. That was just the beginning. We went ahead with the booking anyway, open to giving them a try. We were exhausted and just needed a place to rest as soon as possible. We saw cockroaches around the premises when we first got out of our car. Upon entering the room, we found another cockroach. Both the sink faucet and the bathtub/shower faucet were constantly leaking/dripping. I have very sensitive hearing, and despite our best efforts to drown out the sound with the fan and the bathroom door closed, I was still kept awake by the leaks. In addition, the curtains wouldn't close fully, and in order to block out the bright light directly outside of our window, my husband had to hang one of our tarps over the curtain rod! The next morning, our key card stopped working before checkout time and before we had checked out. Last, and worst of all, at checkout, after giving my information and complaints to the kind person at the front desk in an attempt to communicate with the manager, I received no follow-up whatsoever. I called again, twice, and was told the manager would return my call. I still haven't received a call from the manager, over a month later. This is incredibly disappointing. It's one thing to have a run down room filled with both minor and major inconveniences. A room change or refund could have been offered. A complete lack of care from management is another story altogether. I will remember this, and plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I would not recommend a stay here. There are plenty of other options in the Zion area.
The staff was friendly at arrival however on 2 occasions went to the desk for information and waited but now one ever came to desk to assist. However, biggest problem was the bathroom , above the shower head the plastic was hanging off the wall and ripped, if we took a hot showered it might have have fallen in the shower with us. A few other things but definitely disappointing especially for what I paid for the night. Definitely great location though and close enough to Zion. Sad thing if someone walked the rooms and cleaned up and repaired would have had a better experience. Would love to have showered after hiking Zion! No one ever contacted me regarding my complaint I had to call them back. Trying to find a corporate office for this property to complain!
Cute place, but not amazing. We arrived at 7pm and the check-in office was already closed, so they left us a key in an envelope taped to the door. We had a trailer and their parking area is not accommodating to this at all, so we had to park across the street somewhere. We got inside the room and the tv didn’t work, the shower didn’t really drain well, and our pillows didn’t stay propped on the bed but kept falling in between the bed and headboard. When we tried to check out early the next day office hours on door started at 7:30am, there was a line of people at the door because someone didn’t show up to open until nearly 8am. The bed was comfy though!
Arrived around 2am in Feb 2022 after driving from Vegas. Our room key was taped to the outside door of the reception area. As soon as we entered the room we saw how filthy the place was. Dirt all over the ground, bits of leaves around and hair and dead bugs. As we were unpacking we noticed a baby mouse ON THE BED. The mouse ran under a bed so we tried moving the beds to shoo the mouse out - that’s when we discovered dozens of tiny bedbugs and what seemed to be baby cockroaches. We left the room immediately and slept in the car for the night. In the morning I went to reception to complain and get a refund and we were told they’d “make a note for a manager”. We never received an apology for the filthiness or inconvenience and reception seemed as if this was a normal occurrence. Little did I know it would take numerous phone calls, complaints, and months later before we’d be issued a refund. This was the absolute worse experience and put quite a damper on our vacation as we had to find another hotel to stay at for the remainder of the trip. Highly recommend Hampton Inn & Suites :
Very very very average stay.. we got there and went to get into our room and it wasn’t cleaned from the previous people that stayed. The hall way also had dirty cots in it. When we went back to tell the ladies. She was kind but told us she couldn’t do anything about and and had to give us a smaller room with no discounted price. They also advertise free breakfast but what it actually is is a paper bag with a frozen egg burrito and a cheap yogurt in it.
I would give this lodging 3.5 stars. We booked one night but when we arrived we planned to stay a second night. Fortunately for us they had space and we were easily to stay a second night. We were there December 27-29, 2022 and there were a lot of tourists in the area between Christmas and New Years. The location was super convenient to accessing Zion National Park, which is why we were there. Our room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. For some reason we were given the room which is meant for handicapped people. For that reason we had a large bathroom with zero clearance stepping into the shower, no tub, which did not bother us. The sink area was small, with very little counter space, we made it work. The towels were rough, and medium thickness but there were extras. There is a little sink and counter outside of the bathroom which was nice for filling up water bottles. Also a small fridge and microwave. We don't drink coffee but when we arrived the coffee pot was turned on with no water in it. It's good that we noticed and turned it off. Free Breakfast was a grab and go bag with a little pre packaged breakfast burrito that we heated up in our room and a lunch sized apple, mine had a bad spot. We never took advantage of the hot tub, if it was working. Another guest was looking for it, in the cold in her swimwear. We knew the pool was closed that time of year. The biggest problem and reason for 3 1/2 stars is the loud, noisy room heater. Since we were there in winter and it was unseasonably cold during that time, we wanted the heater running at least a little bit at night even though it made a racket. We put up with it because we slept hard after travel and hiking. When we came back the second day from another good day of hiking, cold and ready to relax, our room was clean and tidy but the heater would not turn on. We called the front desk, she told us to look for a portable heater in the wardrobe, no apology, it was like she knew what was going on. No portable heater was in the wardrobe. I called her back. She simply said, you can stay in that room or you can move across the parking lot. Well, we didn't want to be cold so we moved. Once again, no apology, nor did they offer to help us move. It's okay, we are healthy and capable, it just would have been courteous if she offered. The second room was just fine, we went from one queen bed to 2 queen beds. The bathroom was smaller but had a tub and there was more counter space outside of the bathroom where we got ready for bed. The bed and pillows in the second room was also comfortable. The room heater worked perfectly and was not nearly as noisy as the previous room. By the way, my husband fixed the curtains in both rooms which were not all the way connected to the top rod and were hanging oddly. It was to our benefit, it allowed less light in. When we were packed up and ready to leave I checked out and let the person at the front desk know we were checking out and that we would like to receive a small discount for the inconveniences we experienced. She said she would let her manager know. No apology. We've never received any discount for our inconveniences. We did enjoy Zion and were happy with the location. FYI we ate at Porters, good food, good service. We also ate at Thai Sapa, which had wonderful soup which made me happy after a day of hiking in cold and snow. They were courteous and quick despite being super busy. I think they opened for the holiday break because business was good. Not all restaurants were open the last week of December in Springdale.. The one photo I've included is taken from the parking lot on the first morning of our stay. I'm sure the views are stunning, we had low clouds all morning. It looked like construction was going on in the building next to Zion Pioneer Lodge, we never saw workers but that doesn't mean they weren't there since we were gone.
Location is best. Many restaurants in walking distance. Quite at night which is good for resting time after long day hiking. Only thing is parking space little small. Breakfast is not really good but that is what I expected.Rooms: 4/5
