Plato's Closet® is all about being fashion savvy and shopping smart. We specialize in gently used clothes and accessories for teen and twenty something girls and guys. All stores are independently owned franchises.

At Plato's Closet® you'll find a huge selection of trendy, designer styles as well as those every day basics you can't live without - all at up to 70% off mall retail prices!

Our stores buy and sell girls sizes 0/1 to 18/20 and guys size 28 to 40 waist. The gently used clothing and accessories that we buy are: top-name brands, cool, hip, trendy, and clean. Typically we buy items that have been in the retail stores within the past 12 to 18 months.

Our process is quick and easy:

1. Go through your overflowing closet
2. Bring in your cool stuff
3. Walk out with new cool stuff or $$$ in your pocket!

This Plato's closet is the WORST one in the DMV. First I go there which was an half hour drive... I get there the lady tells me it's a three hour wait. So I decide to come the following day bright and early like 9:45am Saturday Sep 2nd waiting. So the girl picking the clothes out at 10:00am I believe her name was Raven. I take my two bags in mind you they said it was a two bag limit the previous day. She tells me it has to fit in the 1 black bin, so I squeeze my things in there. Mind you she's just watching. So she goes thru my things and she was already rude when I first got there, so she picked out literally 4 items out of my two bags. Then say they are looking for teen/mid 20s items, but that was NOT what they said when I called. And THEY WERE OUTFITS FOR TEENS AND UP THEY WERE JUST Xl and 2xl. She ended up taking 4 items and said my things were worn out and most of them I never wore lol so that was a lie. Mind you I walked around the store and there were torn shoes, the clothes didn't even look Mid teen or whatever they said they were looking for. Then they made half the prices of the items the same price as If it were the original store. So there was a lady in front of me made $67 for like 13 items that SHE PICKED OUT, but then she didn't even fully look at my items!!! I went to a whole dofferent platos closet with the same items and got $50!!! SO I think she was just choosing what SHE WANTED AND THE FACT SHE ALREADY WAS BEING RUDE AND NONCHALANT. Never less to say Don't go to this Plato's. THEY PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT THEY WANT BY EACH PERSON THAT COMES IN. I WOULD have appreciated if someone ELSE looked at my items because she Didn't at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s hard to determine what they will take even after you call to ask them what they’re in need of. Disappointing that most of the time I’ve not seen anyone leave with more than $10. While I really would rather support somewhere local I’ve had better luck with ThredUp, especially with name brand items like Banana Republic, Limited, etc. Some of the items are overpriced for used items as well, particularly their behind the counter “luxury” items, which have higher prices than the outlet stores for those items. Maybe others have had better luck all around but after a few attempts here I’ve given up
Probably the rudest staff you’ll ever encounter. Zero personality, zero politeness. They literally make you feel like you are bothering them by shopping there. How they have stayed open based on the staff alone is beyond me. To top it off their return policy is BS. You can’t exchange or return after 7 days, regardless of holidays or their open schedule.
Easily the best Plato's Closet out there. They have great stuff always, a range of sizes and are super nice about selling. I always take my clothes in to sell and they are so easy to work with and officiant.
Website says call ahead to see what they are currently buying so I did just that. They told me they were in need of 1X/2X clothing which was perfect because that is what I was hoping to sell. I took 40 tops in a box1X/2X, most were new with tags. They accepted 5 items. Five! And gave me $10 for them. Total waste of my morning. Don’t sell here, good lord it would have been more beneficial for my time and others if I had just driven these items to the Salvation Army.
Cheyenne the manager today Sunday August 13,2023 was extremely rude!!!! I would not even give her a 1 star if it was possible! I called and spoke to her about bringing in clothes and she told me yes at 3pm I drove an hour. Got to her store at 4pm and was told they would not even look at my items bc they closed in 2 hours!!!!! I asked for someone above her and she said she is the highest person other than corporate. And then proceeded to tell me corporate would do nothing for me.
I love shopping here! It’s always easy to find something cute to wear since the staff sort through the items people sell to them and only accept the styles they think will sell for the store! It’s like having someone pick out all of the cute items in a large thrift store and putting them into a smaller local business for my friends and I to always find something cheap but pretty to wear! Sort of like a personal shopper! PLUS Thrifting is better for the environment and my wallet haha. I’m sure it takes a lot more work for the employees rather than working at a store in the mall since they have customers in ADDITION to SELLERS & some people who are both <3 But my friend group and the environment thank you! Love what you are trying to do for the community
Nice place don't give you much for your clothes I took in brand new with tags in original packaging Victoria secert leggings a purse a few small totes a shirt and a brand new butterfly purse they gave me 10.00 for all. Most brand name clothes are on the higher price for what they give people then resell it. But nice store.
Complete waste of time! Unprofessional. They didn’t accept any of my items and they’re reason was non teen items I have all teen girls so that’s the first lie, then they said wear over half my bag had new tags another lie. Whomever sorts items is incompetent and clearly not with todays trends of fashion. Half my bag was name brand and I knew I wouldn’t get half the cost that I paid for them, but I was being generous, they’re lost, I will never step foot in there again.
Though the staff are polite and professional my biggest disappointment was when going through my clothes that I had neatly folded for them, the ones they didn't want, the staff just balled - Yes, BALLED -- them up and dropped them in my bag. I got back a pile of clothes that just were like thrown away.
