Plato's Closet - Maple Grove, MN

They won’t take plus size clothes. Went in with a full basket with multiple OUTFITS still having tags on them and they were claimed “to warn”. They took nothing!They didn’t even go through them as they were literally exactly in the same order I folded them! Went through to see the plus size selection and literally nothing. Will never be back.

This place is horrible. I was the first person there to sell at 10am and they never texted me. I went back in 4 hours later and it had been ready for hours. They offered me $4 for a $70 skirt brand new with tags on and I don't think they even bothered to look at the 20 or so pairs of American eagle jeans I brought in. I will never come back here.

PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST! THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO SELL CLOTHES! I took 5 totes of spring and summer clothes in and they didn't take anything! They didn't even look through the totes everything was the same way I left it! If they werent interested in buying anything they should of just said that instead of wasting my time. They also didn't tag it so I dont think it was marked in the system. On top of that the staff was incredibly rude and lazy, alot of workers just standing around and chit chatting. No one was smiling so you know they hate their job.The place was a mess, clothes everywhere on the ground. I looked at some of the clothes they were "buying" and it was about 2 or 3 items for every basket full of clothes. Save yourself the time and go across the street to clothes mentor instead you might have better luck than this place. Due to this awful experience I went to the St Cloud Platos and got over $100 the staff was super polite too and even offered to help carry my clothes back to the car.

Store was clean and decently organized. They processed the items I was selling faster than expected which was also nice. My complaint is that a lot of the clothes are SHEIN, Fashion Nova, and other cheap brands. A lot of these are marked higher than what you’d buy them for new too. Like $8 for a basic SHEIN shirt Not a wide variety of jeans- at least not in my size. I love a mom jean as much as the next person but pretty much their whole Jean selection was that style. Little overpriced for a thrift store too I think I would have bought some things if they were cheaper but for used clothes the prices were not deals at all.

Took 4 large boxes of clothing there this last week. Drove from Big Lake to Maple Grove, about a 45min drive. Waited for them to call me to go pick up my cash and they said they didn't want any of it. Had to load it all back in my car and then take it to Goodwill, and then drive 45mins back to Big Lake. I don't understand why they didn't want any of it. There was some very expensive suits, jackets and dresses from Daytons... granted they were not new, but still in very good shape. They seem to be very picky about the style of clothes...I guess they only take "trendy" stuff, whatever that is. Not happy with all of the wasted time and gas to get nothing. Will not try them again!!

Basic economics would indicate that if your inventory is too high per Instagram stories posted two years ago and signs still posted in the store, you’re not pricing it low enough.

By far the best Plato's closet in MN! They have the fairest prices, best selection, and the store is always VERY clean. I also have the great luck selling here. Some of the other reviews note that they were selective and didn't take most of their items, but it honestly just depends on when you go. Sometimes they'll take more because they need stock, and sometimes they'll be more picky if they already have a lot of stock. Sometimes I call and ask and if they're being more selective, I'll just wait a month. Love going here! I moved out of the area recently but will happily drive out of my way to stop here :

UPDATE: Constantly at Plato’s. I love when I find great deals, but it’s rare at times. Lot of out of style clothes. The changing rooms need to be swept, always dust and stuff on the floor. **went in today and was told the owner came in and cleaned all the dust off, it looked GREAT! Nice to know reviews are looked at and work on what needs some improvement to make it even better!** But it’s a nice space and have great layouts. They also run their Instagram really well! I’m always checking it for deals!

I had came to Plato’s Closet yesterday around 3:45 to sell clothes, and I made sure to look at their store hours so I wasn’t too late it was a Sunday, so it closes at 5pm. Once I got there with my bag, the worker who was speaking to me told me that I couldn’t sell my clothes today because they have “select store hours on the weekends” now, meaning they were only open to buying on Sundays from 10-3. They wouldn’t even leave my stuff to check the next day, so it was pretty bad considering I drove out there for that purpose.

Not sure how there are so many bad reviews, however I have read most and most are complaining about them not accepting their clothing. This is the absolute NICEST Plato's I've EVER been in. And I've been obsessed with these stores for years. I've traveled all over MN for different Plato's and this one is the cleanest with the best selection of brand name clothing. Almost everything I see is still in stores, nearly brand new. Most look like they haven't even been worn! All the Plato's I go to have so many items with stains and holes. This Plato's is very strict on the items they take. I can't believe how great the price is for such great clothing. I hope they keep up the good work because this has always been my go to store for any needs I have! My boyfriend loves this one too! Also I see a lot of comments about staff being rude. When they are constantly yelled at and questioned for what they are instructed by their boss to do I can see how they'd get a little frustrated. I agree they should be a bit more nice, I've never personally had problems
