Plaza Mayor

Description

Plaza Mayor at the Crossroads is a 1,268,000 square foot super regional shopping mall and trade area located in south Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.HistoryPlaza Mayor at the Crossroads opened on February 17, 1974 as Crossroads Mall with anchor stores John A. Brown, Dillard's, Montgomery Ward, and JC Penney. The name Crossroads Mall was chosen because it lies at the major intersection of I-35 and I-240, a major crossroads of the city. At the time of its opening, it was one of the largest construction projects to have ever taken place in the state of Oklahoma, and also was among the ten largest shopping malls in the United States. A 1974 a Daily Oklahoman newspaper article heralded the shopping mall as "the most magnificent enclosed and air-conditioned shopping mall in the Southwest." The mall contains approximately 36 stores and services. It also has a very large trade zone outside of the mall building itself with numerous retailers, and restaurants, including two hotels and a movie theater. Plaza Mayor had been one of the more popular shopping establishments in the city for well over twenty years. It is noted as one of the primary reasons for the suburban flight of retail shoppes from Downtown Oklahoma City, which is now beginning to show an increase of retail shoppes following the Metropolitan Area Projects Plan.

This is now an antique store. I followed a listing here on an estate page. It didn’t state it was cash only or that I would have to pay to get in…not cool.
Most of the stores were closed down. Will be great once its back up and full.
Wow. Incredible fun! I was immediately greeted to the mall by a tumbleweed rolling out of it! Don't mind the roaming packs of feral dogs in there, if you don't bother them, they'll usually mind their own business! Oh and before you leave, you absolutely MUST try the beyond expired gumballs in the machines! 10/10 would absolutely visit again!
Love taking our kids to play in the play ground it's indoors and always fun
Place is some what run down but not full-blown run down. It's cheap, they also have some mainstream shops
This is a review of my last visit a few years ago. First I am glad to hear it has been renovated and reopened with a Mexican theme. I wish them luck. On my visit it was what is known as a Dead Mall. All the anchor stores were vacant except for one which was being used as a clothing closeout warehouse. And there were very few small stores open in between, most were shops rather than stores. It was a surreal experience, there were very few people inside. I used to come there in the 80s to play in the arcade as a teenager, back then it was a thriving upscale mall. So sad to see how far it had fallen. So again, I'm glad it has a new lease on life, hope it survives.
Still love going here. There have been quite a few changes. My Bath and Body Works and VS/Pink are still intact!! Still love the atmosphere and relaxation!! Also went to check out a friends Boutique!!!
Not the exact spot but close enough...and it's wonderful
What happened to Crossroads? Went here for Christmas Workshop 2016. Not clean. The restrooms were atrocious. The food vendors had some good choices, but after being repulsed by the restroom situation, I couldn't eat there.
Pulling into the parking lot was very reminiscent of years back. That was the last time I visited this mall. My sole purpose was to see the baby tiger with my kids. Which btw, is very well cared for contrary to some ugly reviews I've read online. I was pleasantly surprised however, when I walked inside. Many store and restaurants have been added. Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret are there. I'm pretty sure I wasn't hungry when I walked in but, the smells of all the food had me starving. So after my day was made by baby tiger, Abraham, we stopped by Chimex for some food. It reminded me of the Cajun Cafe that I frequent while at Penn Square Mall, complete with the scrumptious Bourbon Chicken. All in all, Abraham gave us a memory we will not forget and I will return more often now.
