Love this campground been coming for 6 years with my family. Lots for the kids to do. The workers at the campground are very helpful and aways their for anything you need. Can’t wait to go back again this year.
Nice lake. Great staff.
So.... here's my review. It would be 5 star awesome lake, great lots, playground and lots things for the kids to do BUT the bathrooms were so incredibly dirty and disgusting it's knocked the stars down to 2 stars which I feel is generous. I want to note we did let the staff know and they said they only clean them once a day no matter what. We noticed toilet paper not changed that had been very low at night so gone in the morning pretty early on in the day and for the of the reminder of the day and specific mess still there days later so I'm not sure how well it was checked/cleaned each day. I really want to say how great everything else was but I can't stress enough how gross the washrooms were. I hope they change their policy because I'm unsure if I'll go back for this reason.
Wont be coming back !!! For the past 7 years I had nothing but great things to say about ponhook campground. We went EVERY summer with our children, and their cousins. The one time each year where all the nieces and nephews get together for a sleepover. We always looked forward to it and the kids couldn't stop talking about how excited they were to go camping. But after this weekend I will never camp there with my family again! Our trip started out great. My husband and I were there with our 3 children, my mother, my sister, and my niece and nephew. A total of 5 children ages from 4 to 11. After the kids went to bed we were sitting at our lot enjoying some much needed quality time with my mother and sister. That doesn't happen often . We had a cell phone on the picnic table playing music. Not very loud might add. Even at max volume the phone isn't that loud Next thing I know some guy shows up on a bycicle. He gets off and says to my mother with his hands on his hips : " are you the leader of this group?" " no.... She is." My mother says pointing to me. I put my hand up. "Yes I am the leader" I said laughing .. I didn't know what was going on or who this guy is.... " well, I need to speak to you about noise. You are going to shut this down! " "Oh..." I said, reaching for the cell phone to shut it off ....but its not my cell phone so I was trying to figure out where the power button was "Just trying to figure out how to shut it off." "THE VOLUME BUTTON MIGHT WORK WOULDN'T YA THINK?" He said sarcastically. I shut the music down and then he said I can't talk or laugh either!!!. When I shut down the phone I noticed it was only 11:17 ! We tried to reason with him to see why were weren't allowed to make ANY sound when we were surrounded by EMPTY lots and our nearest neighbors were a good distance away AND in campers. seriously test it. Play a song on a cell phone with NO EXTRA SPEAKERS.. Set it on a table then walk away and go in a camper... See if you hear anything... I DOUBT IT! Every time my husband or I tried to speak he kept shushing us, so we tried to go speak to the owner but he would not allow us to. He admitted to me that nobody had even complained about us. He was just looking for somebody to shut down! So we went back to our camp site to sit quiet and bored for awhile before going to bed. ...... During that time we couldn't help but notice there were other people still talking and having a good time, but they were seasonal campers who spend more money there than us so it didn't matter! In the morning I was on my way to the playground holding my 4 year old daughter's hand. "This is going to be the best day ever" she said, looking at me. We stopped in the washroom before going to the playground, but we never did make it to the playground. The owner and his son aka guy from the night before were both outside of the bathrooms waiting for us. "Apparently you guys don't understand the rules here so I'm going to refund you for tonight's amount and I'm asking you guys to leave. Check out is at 11am" This is at 9:50 am... So we only have 1 hour and 10 mins to make all the kids their breakfast sandwiches they were looking forward to, pack up 2 large tents, and pack up everything... Which is A LOT with 5 kids. Especially when we thought it would be a day the kids could play all day long together! I walked over to the playground to tell the kids its time to go pack up because we were asked to leave. Immediately they ALL started crying and the owner was there still to witness it. I hope he feels bad for RUINING their camping experience at ponhook.... And for WHAT? We weren't bothering ANYONE and I DID SHUT MY MUSIC OFF ! I honesly can't believe it even happened to us! He went out looking for a problem to fix when there was no problems! And all he did was upset 5 innocent kids and make them cry! We won't be spending another $ there I PROMISE - Samantha Chase
Beautiful place to go for all adventures. The people are friendly and I didn't want to leave.
We enjoyed an evening at the beach. Our children love the raft with the slide and diving board.
Very friendly staff, vibrant camping community, power, WIFI, swimming area. A little more expensive than most campsites.
This is our 2nd season here. We live ut so much. The owners are magnificent and so very helpful.
