My family and I didn't know what to expect when we visited Discovery Children's Museum. We had a fantastic time!! My wife and kids enjoyed it. They have many activities. The big slide/sky climber was a great attraction and enjoyable for kids and adults. There are other play areas i.e. a diner theme, water fun, reading nook, etc. When you purchase a ticket, you get a discount at Philips Seafood 2 blocks away which was amazing. We will definitely visit again!
My family and I absolutely love this place. From the parking garage to the snack area to the third level tier that has a water play area, it's just amazing fun for the little ones and even some older ones lol...the one thing I would change is add a restroom in the Cafe section rather than walking down into the hallway because I was thinking, if a kid throws up from eating after all that jumping, sliding, bouncing, skipping, and running...they and or their parents would have to hold their mouth and run them down the hall to a restroom where other parents and children are playing which can be quite hazardous. No one needs other babies getting sick from the sight of puke or the sound of puking. Other than this...we adore Port Discovery! Great place, awesome sightseeing nearby for downtown inner harbor and awesome food spots all over.
My three children loved going here! Place was really fun for them, many things to do and interact with. We spent about 3 hours here and the kids were still trying to stay and play. Three different levels of fun interactive things and play areas to do. My kids really liked the art center where you can take a class with one of the instructors or free draw. Only downside is that the tickets per child and adult are pretty pricey. I understand the children but even the parent prices are priced too high especially for us as parents not really doing anything but chaperoning our kids.
The best children’s museums we’ve been to yet and we’ve been to a few great activities in each floor. Multiple areas to play with different concepts. Love the toddler 3 and under room. All around a place the kids played for hours and could play many more.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$16–20
Visually, this place looks like a lot of fun, and I'm sure it is for kids under 8 years old. It's not bad, but it lacks WOW factors. The Egyptian room was the coolest thing there. Unfortunately, some of the things are broken or don't work, like the boxes that you look through. *kickball *art / project room *toddler area *2 toddler play diners *slide *Water room *Egyptian maze *Puppet area *Library *Gift shop *Snacks *Clean My family and I were here pre-covid when they had the huge jungle gym. It was a great disappointment to see they rid that. My 9 and 11 year old tried their best to have fun, but it seems to be geared towards kids under 8, with the slide being the only thing that older kids can really claim for themselves. However, going up one side to realize you can't go down the slide on that side, not as fun, especially if you're afraid of heights and overcoming fears my daughter and I both . We had to SQUEEZE through people on the way down the rope tunnel. It's not the most enjoyable experience. Apparently there are signs on both sides of the slide area that tells you one side is to climb only and the other goes to the slide, even though both actually go to the slide, THEY decided to turn people away at the very top. Yes, someone sits at the top and tells you "sorry nope, you have to go back down and come up the other tunnel," even though both sides lead to the slide... Also, staff tried yelling over all the noise to direct slide traffic, but who's listening with all the commotion going on? Plus, there really isn't good foot grip on the rope tunnels. It really hurt our toes. Foam steps would be better. Bummer. There's a huge lack of vegan food options there. Lots of junk food, but their self check out was convenient and fun for my kids to help with. The water room smelled like wet clothes that sat in the washer, too long. I do find it a bit expensive for parents to follow their kids around. There should be a discount to non-playing parents. I've been to many kids indoor play areas, and parents don't pay or they can pay to play and get a band when they do. No play, no band. Play, you get a band. I think younger kids would have a blast. It just wasn't for my family, and my review is solely based on the age and amenities for my kids.
Best Children’s museum we have been to!!! This place is absolutely amazing for the whole family. My niece and nephew are 9 and 10 so I was unsure if they would be excited this time. They loved it!!! There is so much to do and the best part is everything is hands on. The slide is huge! It is also very fast coming down. They loved the Royal farms area. To my surprise they spent a lot of time in the diner serving us. The staff every where was great. From checking in to all throughout the museum. Every staff member seemed to throughly enjoy their job. It truly makes a difference for guests experience. The bathrooms!! They were exceptionally clean. So much so the kids were talking about it. We were just so impressed with our entire experience. In one area for toddlers there was a private bathroom in there as well as a nursing station. These small things make such a huge difference for parents. Parking We parked in the Harbor street parking garage. It’s $15 to park when visiting the museum and we prepaid before we went. When we pulled up to the garage it scanned my tag and there was nothing more to do. The garage is directly next to the museum which is so convenient. Port Discovery let’s you renter so we packed lunches, and also walked around the harbor. There is a water play area that if you really let them play they will be soaked. We did bring a change of clothes just incase. They provide little rain coats but there is water everywhere. The kids were having a blast in there. The art rooms were really nice. The mummy area as the kids called it was another favorite. If you are looking for a great place to take your kids this is it. We drove an hour to come here and it was well worth it! It does get a little warm and stuffy as they day went on, so we were glad we all wore shorts and T-shirts. We will definitely be back!!!
A giant playground for kids as well as adults! I had an absolute blast taking my 3 year old niece here. There are so many cute exhibits for kids to interact with, such as a mock grocery store and diner, a pretend gas station, a mini water section with toy boats, an Egyptian tomb, a netted climber, and a conveyor belt with foam blocks. I'm glad to see the parents were just as polite as the children and workers. I highly recommend checking out this place! Everyone will have fun regardless of your age!
Kids love this place. There are a lot of activities for kids of all ages. It’s very family friendly with nursing booths, elevators and places to park strollers. I recommend you get the membership pass which pays for itself in just about two visits. Parking is expensive. Remember to validate or get a discount if you parked in the lot next door.
This place was so interactive and educational. There seems to be an age limit for most of the attractions. Kids 5 and younger would get the most out of this place. There was so much to do and learn. Make believe rooms, science rooms and more. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself.
This place has great activities for kids of all ages, adults included! All the exhibits and play areas are clean and managed by a museum worker. From the toddler sensory areas, to the diner, grocery store, gas stations and even cow milking game, there is SO much to do. Plan on spending a few hours because there are multiple floors all worthy of fun and exploring. Definitely a hidden gem in Baltimore. The parking garage is adjacent to the Discovery Cove and they validate parking, so be sure to bring your ticket! Can't beat the price and experience!!
