Porter County Public Library - Portage Public Library

This library has some of the most friendly and helpful staff and their children's area is really improving. There are a great many different items to borrow aside from books and the displays are always fresh; lots of new materials arrive regularly. This library is a great asset to the community and I highly recommend it!

It was really nice. I signed up for a library card for myself and my children. The girl that helped us, was very friendly and helped us figure out how to order books from other libraries associated with the portage library. We looked around upstairs and down. My children enjoyed themselves

I wrote a small collection of poems and released it in a paper chap book I printed and mended myself. I approached the library about leaving some copies on the counter since I am a resident. I left a copy with my phone number so they could get back to me and let me know if my work was approved for display. They never attempted to get in contact with me. Meanwhile the Ontonagon public library in Michigan and the Monroe County library in Bloomington both accepted for display without question. It makes me sad my home library won’t show any support, but aye it’s their lost.

Having visited from a much less literacy focused community, I was enthralled with the depth and amount of selection here. DIY to cookbooks in droves. Boardgames and graphic novels by the shelf full. I'd live in these walls if I could. I didn't interact with any of the staff directly, but hearing them quickly and adeptly respond to patron's individual needs in kind, polite ways brought joy to my face. I hope to visit again sometimes.

Nice, clean, large library. Many selections. Has book store for purchasing books, magazines, CD's, DVD's, VHS. Computers available. Printing fees are 10 cents for black and white copies & $1.00 for color copies.

This is an excellent library. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. For a medium size library, the selection is expansive and the staff will do their utmost to secure any publication that is not on their shelves. And, finally, the physical space is clean and well laid out.

The cutest library. Easy to navigate, friendly staff, great communication on when held books are ready to be picked up, and an amazing Portage History room as a recent transplant from IL, I was so excited to peek in and explore the history of my new town. Happy to be a part of this amazing library system.

The kids event nights are awesome! As are the workers that do them with excitement !

Everyone was..like always..so eager friendly and helpful..i always go to the portage one..its the best because of their employees..period
