MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of the Priceville Volunteer Fire Department is to provide the best quality response and care for the community and its property. This will be accomplished professionally through prevention, education, and protection from life-altering emergencies. This shall be accomplished through the three pillars of volunteer firefighting: commitment to our ideals of safety, strong leadership, and a positive public image.
IDEALS
Commitment to Safety: This needs to be any organization’s number one priority. There are enough dangers inherent to firefighting without introducing some more by unmitigated, risk-taking behaviors. The SOGs shall be written in a manner to ensure the safety of our crews, victims, and bystanders for every action we perform. Any member reserves the right to not follow orders, whether direct or indirect, based upon a sincere belief that an order will cause harm to themselves, victims, or bystanders.
Strong Leadership: Providing guidance to motivate members of the department to meet and exceed the department’s goals. The key is establishing the appropriate plan to reach the desired goals. That can also include the preparation of members to accept future demanding roles in the department, preparing the department to meet the ever-changing demands of the fire service, and ensuring the department can meet the needs of a growing community.
Positive Public Image: Without a good image, the department will certainly fail. We will not recruit new members, receive support from the members of the community, or receive adequate support from neighboring agencies. Therefore it is a MUST to act in a professional manner at all times.
