The nurses are not caring at all treat you as if you are their customer when you are paying the bill mean and rude if if they do not want to treat patients correctly. Oh, why did you get this job? Oh maybe because of the money I had to refuse their service and walk out bloody a security guard came and got me and asked me to come back in at that time you had a nurse that wanted to treat me correctly. I asked her to not let the two rude nurses that they let in my room to not be in my room still I am here two hours later the doctor did see me they gave me x-rays and I am still here paying for my own bill and yet no one has come to see me never do I ever come to Toledo hospital because they say it’s a house of death if you come here, you will die most people I know has died in this hospital, so I prefer not to come. It’s been many years, and I have chosen not to come here for some odd reason I came here I tried to leave to go to my regular hospital, but a security guard convinced me to stay because I was bleeding profusely doctors was vague I only seen one nurse asked for some pain med and only asked for Motrin 800 and still have not received that they took x-rays of me, knowing that they’ve already been able to see them and yet not seen no doctor I would not recommend Toledo hospital to anyone because this is the house of death and I have not been here in over 2030 years and I’m 50 years old. They treat you like you owe them something knowing you were the one paying a bill they are not friendly and they’re very rude. I would not recommend anybody coming to Toledo Hospital over your life or death neither the doctors or the nurses are friendly or treat you as a patient. They treat you as a paycheck never have I come here and a nurse or doctor has treated me as a patient or , try to get to know you they just treat you as a number I would highly not recommend anybody to go to Toledo hospital because they treat you as a number are they treat you as a death patient and they do not contend to you whatsoever I’ve been in this room for over an hour and nobody has come to check on me since they did my x-rays so I recommend St. Charles Hospital. They are very loving the nurses and doctors they get to know you I very much so recommend Saint Charles hospital Toledo hospital is trash.
This one is for all the first time moms planning to give birth here- DON’T DO IT. Especially if you plan on breastfeeding your child. This hospital clearly doesn’t respect breastfeeding moms and does everything they can to push formula. The so called “lactation specialist” that’s supposed to come around and help does absolutely nothing and helps with nothing. All she did was ask what I was doing so far and said “yeah that’s good keep doing that” and when I showed her my baby wasn’t latching she just said oh keep trying but couldn’t offer any other solutions. This hospital absolutely RUINED my breastfeeding experience. Went as far as threatening me saying that if the baby doesn’t start eating soon then I’m not going home. Because of the hospital pushing formula my milk supply tanked, I couldn’t pump but one bottle a day for my child. She didn’t even care to eat off me anymore and would only take bottles after the 2nd month. By the 3rd month I had to stop cause it was no point stressing myself to only be able to give her one bottle of breast milk a day. My dr was disgusted when I told her how they treat first time breastfeeding moms in this place. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Please DO NOT have your baby here if you plan to breastfeed!
My mother recently spent a few days at ProMedica Toledo. I don't live in the area and I was impressed with this hospital. The rooms and hallways are spacious and clean. The staff was wonderful, particularly at night. If you need to be in a hospital, I would highly recommend this one.
Last week, after 7 pm, I visited a 94 yr old friend post Surgery , unit A . She had a tumor removed above the eye. I noticed her food was untouched. I mentioned that to her. She said, oh , i didn't know that food was there . She thought she heard a person come in, didn't know who it was . I helped her eat the applesauce , rice and chicken . We know folk are short handed, in a hurry , but that's my report
I was not very happy that I spent the night after I had surgery, then the next day told me that I could go home with blizzard conditions, I wanted to stay any night but was more less told me that it is going to be the same conditions as today. So Husband and I left, We live an hour away going toward Cleveland, We left least to say that 46 car pile up on the Turnpike was about was about 15 miles up from where they was making everyone get off the Turnpike. This was my worst fear, I am just glad we made it home safe. The pic below is what it was like driving home, we maybe 25 on the Turnpike all the way home.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They have made serious mistakes with multiple families members; from sending my brother in law home on a broken foot and telling him it was fine, to having my mother's bed duct taped together her entire week long stay there in 2018, to now butchering her for what was supposed to be a small procedure, with minimal cuts. She was told two small cuts would be made on her head, and where the incisions were her head would be shaved, but that was not the case. What was supposed to be a 3 hour surgery turned into 45 minutes, with the brain and plastic surgeon paying the least amount of care to my mother as they could. I wouldn't even send my dog here. Go to Mercy.
I’m am absolutely shocked that an accredited hospital would send our daughter home before they discover the reason she would lose a significant amount of blood. She remains in horrible pain and is feeling very ill. On top of all that she has been told there is a mass but none of that warrants further testing before sending her home? This hospital is okay with sending her home and having her make an appointment to see her doctor?!?! The ride home will be a challenge for her. This is truly outrageous! This kind of treatment is exactly what is wrong with our medical system in America today.
Labor and delivery is a joke. There were some great nurses, but then there was one who came in without saying anything, making eye contact or anything. Woke me up and started checking stuff, had me go to the bathroom and squirted the water on me even though I had a csection. Started working on the baby without a word and then rearranged our room, moving our bags and moving the desk and chair all without a single word! Then she told us not to feed our baby at x time because she ate too much and of course it sent our baby to the nicU after that. Went back 6 more times afterwards due to preeclampsia complications and my last visit I was ONE DAY over what labor and delivery considers PP so they sent me to the ER instead. ER doctor was so mad, and the ER nurse that I had didn't wash her hands because the pill she gave me tasted like cigarettes.
If I could give negative stars I would! My mother had lung surgery during Covid and you can’t tell me the nursing staff on the 7th floor weren’t trying to kill her. Medications were repeatedly “dropped” on the floor requiring reorders, but my mom was overdosed with potassium pills that she threw up because her body was not digesting then, we were told she was taking pain pills. The morphine drip was not dripping properly and we believe the nurses were stealing the medications and later found out someone at the hospital had an overdose issue and was admitted to the er, I was concerned about the nurses stealing my moms pain meds because they were very “edgy” when asked questions about anything. My mom was given an ice pack in a pillow case because the nurse stated they didn’t have any supplies, she got irritated with me asking for a proper ice pack and in turn forcibly placed the the ice pack while smashing it in the incision area causing extreme pain. I called the er department from my cell phone to inquire if they had any proper ice packs I could come get and they called the nurse station on our floor and inquired about the call and the head nurse busted into the room very aggressively trying question who called the er. I believe the nurse was trying to get me kicked out so my mom would have no one to advocate for her. They striped my mom down to “shower” but they left her standing naked in the bathroom for over 45 mins as I was sleep trusting they were properly handling her, I woke up to her faint voice repeatedly calling my name. I walked in to her holding onto the sink trying to stay standing up. That was also the same day she threw up the potassium pills. It was like they were trying to overdose her with potassium to stop her heart and make it look like she passed out if it would have worked for them properly but her body doesn’t digest pills good so she threw up the evidence. They messed up the drip to try to get her on oral meds and then subbed her pain meds for potassium pills to try to stop her heart smh!!!! Worse place ever!!! Don’t leave your loved ones unattended! They tried to make it like I was stealing meds to get me kicked out so I couldn’t speak for her. Other patients on the floor were laid out in uncomfortable positions which now that I think about it they may have been taking their pain pills too. We complained and got another nurse on our last night that knew what she was doing but it was definitely something going on with n that floor with those nurses and those meds. I was later told about one of the nurses overdosing. This place is too big to have that kind of stuff going on! And no one has offered a resolution.
My OB had ordered me to go to Toledo Hospital OB triage to be assessed for dehydration, as I wasn't about to tolerate any food or water. My husband and I finally found the OB triage after walking around the entire hospital. Only to be told by a rude OB department employee that our OB was uninformed and they only take patients over 20 weeks pregnant I am 14 weeks and that someone needed to let them know. I don't think it should be taken upon the patient for lack of communication between providers and the hospital. Upon arriving at the ER, it was an 8 hour visit total. The only reason I know the the name of the first nurse assigned to me was, because of my paperwork on MyChart. I was only informed of getting a Detrose IV, and magnesium, but I have medication on MyChart that was given without even knowing. After completing my IV, the nurse had removed my IV, and said "I'll be right back with your discharge paperwork". To which she never came back waiting for an extra hour until another nurse came by, leading me to believe she just tapped out from her shift for the day, and left it all for nurse Laura. The only reasons for the one star review is for the sweet receptionist at Maternal Fetal Medicine. She got more information about our situation, and was able to talk us into getting seen at the ER. Also, nurse Laura in the ER was wonderful, for the 10 minutes I was with her after shift change. I could tell she was frazzled that she couldn't find our discharge paperwork, and nothing seemed set up for her prior to shift change. I do feel much better, and I really appreciate all of the medical staff. However, I will choose another hospital before coming back to get any servives at Toledo Hospital.
