First time at Prospect Park. Adding in my review because reviews were limited when I was browsing for splash pads in the area. I give it 4 stars because here's why: -easy access of parking: there's a parking lot and easy to enter. -entrance fee: $5 per person for Park Ridge residents and $8 for non-Park Ridge residents -plenty of chairs for the littles and lounge chair for adults, including under umbrellas for shade -relatively small so you don't necessarily have to "follow" your child everywhere, however this also says about the price you're paying -bathroom is not such great quality for a park that charges; same as Chicago beach quality that is free Prior to going to the park, I read there are too many kids on the slide. I didn't quite understand until I got there. There's a very short and small water slide. There are many kids who want to ride it and no one to monitor it. I stood to watch my child and signaled when to come down which I didn't mind. However, other kids were piling on and on, on top of each other, but it wasn't my job to tell them what to do. The slide is also rather fast but the landing area is short so many kids go to the concrete area and could easily get hurt. I wish the splash pad and playground would connect better instead of a long walk, but I could see the reason because splash pad requires pay whereas playground doesn't. It was worth a visit. It was clean and well maintained.
Great place to take younger children up to about ten years old on warm/hot days during summer. The water is cool, but not freezing cold like you get at other parks, so children can cool off without shivering and having their lips turn purple. There's also plenty of room for parents to sit and keep dry, as well as some umbrellas to help stay out of the sun if you'd like. There's also a newer playground behind the splash pad, too. Once the kids have had enough fun in the water, they can still play outdoors while simultaneously drying off.
you donhave to watch your kids at all times at this place. A lot of kids going down the slide they don't get out of the way and they all start crashing into each other. That's the only downside.
Great place to take the kids and have a picnic. The community hall is booked a year in advance but it's great for the whole family and friends!
Great park and building facilities. There buildings and equipted with wide open spaces and restrooms as well. I went there for a 1st birthday party and had a blast. The grounds are very nice too. They have a park with play area for kids and swing set etc. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great space to throw a party for a special event. Go and check it out for yourself, you will not be dissapointed. I will definitely be back again and again and again.
The walking trail is nice, but it's quite short so it would be nice if it formed a loop. The park is well kept and quite pleasant.
The Prospect Park Clubhouse was beautiful. very clean, easy to get to, had plenty of parking. Highly recommended.
Clean, not freezing water and they had a lifeguard on duty. The kids had so much fun, completely worth the admission!
Great place for families with young kids. There is a park here as well. For those who cannot swim, this is a great place because there are no pools just the splash pad with some water jets a few water features and a slide. Parking can get tight as it shares a lot with a sports field which sometimes has sports practice.
I love that this playground has a soft surface rather than wood chips. It's also a rare occasion that I feel comfortable sitting down instead of hovering over my kids while they play. The bathroom facilities are comfortable and clean as well. When the splash area is open, there is a concession stand with snacks as well.
