The Nature Conservancy's 380-acre Ramsey Canyon Preserve is renowned for its outstanding scenic beauty and the great diversity of its plant and animal life
Official Facebook page for The Nature Conservancy's Ramsey Canyon Preserve and gift shop. Our normal visiting hours are Thursday thru Monday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. During the months of November thru February we open at 9:00am and close at 4:00pm.
Ramsey Canyon Preserve protects stream side habitat featuring beautiful Arizona sycamore trees. The canyon cuts through the Huachuca Mountains, one of the high biodiversity "Sky Island" mountain ranges of the southwestern U.S. and northwestern Mexico. These mountains harbor many species of plants and animals at the norther edge of their ranges, such as the Apache pine, Berylline hummingbird, coati and Sonoran whipsnake. A spring-fed stream, northeast orientation and high canyon walls keep Ramsey Canyon cool and moist. The 380-acre preserve is surrounded by the Miller Peak Wilderness of the Coronado National Forest.
Ramey Canyon Preserve hosts a variety of educational opportunities for children and people of all ages. We encourage outreach with our local communities to accommodate for school field trips, volunteer work days, community service, etc. To speak to someone from the preserve about arranging an event, please contact Daniel Cowell, our Environmental Education Coordinator at [email protected] for more information.
