My provider is excellent. The office however, I have had issues with receiving adequate and accurate documentation of payment. I’ve even been charged for services I didn’t receive. Also have to tell the staff multiple times to STOP LEAVING MY PAYMENT INFORMATION ON FILE. Not happy at all with the company. The stars are for my therapist. I hope she branches off on her own one day.
I truly enjoyed my first visit with Dr. Larson. She is sweet, kind, caring, as well as understanding. She gives you time to speak before she says what she thinks. Best therapy session ever. I would recommend her.
After receiving no response to an online request I went ahead and called to schedule based on positive reviews. The person who answered didn't seem concerned about that. Unlike the information available online, certain insurance is not accepted for particular services or providers so she went into a long explanation of how they recommend patients pay out of pocket and request partial reimbursement. **ETA The website does not specify that specific services are only provided by one person who does NOT accept all forms of insurance.** I stopped her because I'm not interested in services or providers who push their costs of doing business back onto clients. Still, I told her I was now hesitant but willing to give a covered provider one shot. Although I filled out the requested forms on line, when I arrived for my appointment the provider handed me one more which is not available anywhere on their website, and requires a credit card number for many outlined reasons they might unilaterally bill that card, including what they consider untimely insurance reimbursement. **ETA The specific policy is to charge the card on file if they do not receive insurance reimbursement within 6 weeks not of the day of your visit, that's less than 45 days, or 30 business days regardless of when they file their claim.** While fees for missing appointments without rescheduling are commonplace, here clients are expected to agree with a paragraph with lots of bold and cap locks about how it is their responsibility to navigate their insurance billing and ensure timely payments from the insurance company. The fact that this is a corporatized clinic which accepts marketplace insurance, these reflect exploitative policies which further penalize financially vulnerable populations who have few options in the Athens area. I declined to sign and would never recommend anyone else accept such policies. ETA* It's interesting that within minutes of posting a review Lynn Umstead started calling over and over, even after my husband told her assistant email was a better way to reach me. However nobody responded to an online inquiry in over a week, nor acknowledged that portion of my review. These are the kind of priorities when a private practice exhibits "corporatized" policies. Financial responsibility should include reading a financial agreement before signing. Ms. Wheatley made a point of showing me the last item which she said most people miss, but I did not miss it. Financial responsibility should include weighing the risk of unexpected charges before placing a card number on file. In addition to the typical life experience with various types of insurance and medical situations from early adulthood through raising a family, I parent a child with disabilities who alone has seen over 10 specialists and had 3 ER visits in four years. I've read and signed a LOT of financial agreements, and have NEVER. NEVER. NEVER. been required to place a card on file when seeking treatment for anyone in my family. And frankly, I have little confidence in any provider who works so diligently to characterize access to mental health care as a financial responsibility. Boasting that your practice accepts Medicaid is meaningless when you're publicly defending a policy that implies Medicaid recipients aren't responsible and won't pay if you bill them, or invoke both Medicaid and free clinics in hopes of casting doubt on the reliability of a reviewer. But I want to thank Ms. Umstead for her public response here. Although my review specifies marketplace insurance, which I have purchased for my family, she repeatedly refers to Medicaid and tries to characterize a free clinic. Her publicly belittling response echoes her passive aggressive voicemails in which she makes statements like "We're sorry you don't understand how insurance works." It is astoundingly unprofessional to harass and berate any client, particularly one who listed feeling overwhelmed as the main problem in their life, but at least she did it publicly for potential clients to read themselves.
We had a great experience. She listen to our concerns in regards to our daughter. She ask questions and analyze every detail. Our daughter felt very comfortable with her
