From what I viewed, the place looked great. I booked a 1pm and was running behind, but I witnessed the two young customer service people try to shoe off someone trying to get a membership and I was next in line and thought it was contradicting the times you can go. Idk, just think I’ll take the reviews at heart and stay away.
Customer service is the worst here. Moved into the area recently and wanted to sign up for a gym near by… first couple days were smooth but I had brought in my cousin to check out the gym one night under the fact that I was told I have 2 guest passes per month.. Not only did they make my guest cousin pay $30 to get in for only 2 hours but as we were leaving on our way out when they were closing one of their female employees named Valentina cussed me out in front of my guest and told me get the f$@k out after I stopped to get a drink of water from the water fountain. This level of disrespect is insane and you never address anyone like this especially in a professional setting. People like this shouldn’t even have a job in customer service. I let the manager know about this situation and she just shrugged and said ok. DO NOT GO HERE ITS A WASTE OF MONEY! I had to pay over $140+ per month just to get disrespected and embarrassed in front of my own family! You’re better off getting a membership somewhere where they actually value you as a patron.
There is a severe thunderstorm right now. So, what did genesis do? They intentionally turned off all the power to make it seem like the storm cut the power. Outlets work. Permanent lights in walls work. They just wanted people out since they close at 9 pm and it's 8 pm. Overheard an employee conversation while walking out saying how she "just wants the members to get out" in the middle of a storm. Is this a $200/month gym to you?
I have had different memberships with the RDV and now Genesis. The facility is very nice and large. It has amenities that I liked, the locker, laundry and towel services. The pool is well kept. My 3 star is because they seem disorganized and if you have to call the phone system and customer service is poor. I would have been excited if they enhanced their tennis and pickle ball courts and program. When you want to cater to upscale you have to bring the service and fluff. I hope it improves maybe I will try in a year to see if its new management can bring it!
I hope my review echoes the voice of many regular long time members. This is supposed to be a “health club” and not just a gym. This place has its perks- towel service, cold plunge sauna steam room, good equipment, classes, big turf area, several power racks etc. But it seems over the 2 years I’ve been going here the cons have been growing or getting worse. A lot of this is due to behavior of members but it seems the staff doesn’t care about the gym cleanliness and member experience equally as much as members with poor gym etiquette to do something to improve. I love what this gym has to offer but I can’t help but to notice a decline in quality- Every day, all over the gym, you will find weights and equipment where they do not belong- dumbbells, plates of all sizes, resistance bands, kettlebells, towels, you name it- laying on the floor a mess or on unoccupied equipment. I have been to all commercial gyms and this gym certainly has the worst case of unoccupied weights/equipment just lying around all over the place or in the wrong spots. This makes it pretty awkward especially at busy times because you don’t know whether the equipment is taken or not. You will most likely also find used towels on unnocupied equipment as well. I know this is mostly a members issue but it seems to not be an issue to staff whatsoever. Speaking for my girlfriend- the women’s locker room is unsanitary- you have to tip toe around the clogged drains in the shower areas that are filled with dirty water and hair. The men’s locker room cold plunge seems to be more green lately, members leave their towels, clothes and shoes, bags, all over the place Since Genesis has taken ownership, the amount of new members with poor gym etiquette has grown rapidly- they are definitely marketing hardcore, that seems to be their only focus. This is an expensive gym to go to, which will usually weed out individuals that are not serious about their health and fitness, and those people usually have proper gym etiquette and are there to improve their health, but it truly seems the newer member base of this gym not all of them of course, the few are ruining it for the many is turning the place into any other LA Fitness- equipment & towels all over the place in the wrong spots, disorganized, many members there for the “clout” of being at the most expensive gym in central FL, having selfie sessions on the turf or in the mirrors or while on equipment there have been a couple of times where every single dumbbell bench had been taken, 7-9 of them, and every one of them was sitting on their bench, head down in their phones not working out, all of them simultaneously at peak gym hour. This isn’t what it used to be like here. I know some of this is expected time to time- mostly at a place like LA Fitness- but I’m sure many will agree it has gotten worse over time. Maybe it’s just the times we live in.. I know this is more of a review of the member base of the gym but it contributes to the overall experience of coming here daily and making it what you subscribe to. This isn’t just a “gym” it’s named and marketed as a “health club” and I firmly believe Genesis is doing anything but creating a quality health club which is a direct reflection of their members, and what the club expects from its members. Please do better in cultivating a top notch health club that you claim to be in these regards I’ve spoken about, especially for the price.
I have been a member of this gym for a long time. I love the classes and the kid’s club. If you go regularly, the kids club works out to be a great deal. However, with the recent change in ownership, the cleanliness and perks have gone down. I pay $225/month for 2 adults and 2 kids. For that price, I should get a free guest pass every now and then. This was a perk of the previous ownership. For my mother in law to go on the elliptical for an hour, they charged me $30.
Was a member there for years. Moved and have tried unsuccessfully to cancel my membership. They have me on a “freeze”. I called before I moved and have called 3 times since moving only to be told that “ok we will get back to you”. Today a woman named Jamie told me they cannot do it over the phone . Give me a break ! Email me something. Warning : any place that makes it this difficult to cancel isn’t worth joining. I guess I will drive back to Orlando to take care of something that could easily have been handled over the phone & email !!!
I called to pause/cancel my membership. I was informed I had to go in and do it in person. I explained that I was hospitalized and couldn’t drive for several weeks and my baby is in the NICU. I was told I would get a call back and never did. I tried calling the following came day but no one answered the front desk phone after 10 minutes of waiting. I came in later that day and there were three people at the front desk not doing anything except for chit chatting. I’m very disappointed as it’s putting a strain on my health to go in person, taking time away from my sick baby just to try and keep my money, which will need to go to an expensive though priceless to have my baby home hospital bill. Hope you guys feel good about yourselves.
Best gym in the area, when it was RDV. The cost is on the premium level but you get it back in the amenities and benefits. If you have never tried a class you should try Torch at 6am T&Th with A.J. And Sydni. They are the best first thing in the morning to get you working and meet your goal. Don’t forget to finish the week out with Mark’s Ride class. Can’t forget to give my boy Hamilton some credit. He is always on top of keeping the men’s locker room in tip top shape. All of the staff are always so friendly and help you anyway they can. Update- The Genesis transition has been terrible for us members. They changed a lot of what the members loved from RDV and it seems the new owners don’t care about us members at all. If there was another full service gym in the area I and many other members probably would’ve left already.
Hello, my name is Jorge Correa and I want to report to the advisor Sandra the person they have taking care of new clients and tell them that she took care of me at first and gave us three days to get to know the club! she from the beginning she asked us how many of us were in the family and the ages! she offered us a membership for me, my wife and my two adult children! with a price of just over $200 and when the trial days were over, we arranged to meet the next day to buy the membership and at that moment everything we had already talked about changed! and she told us that the four adults could not enter the membership and she gave us a price double what she quoted us! Honestly, it doesn't seem fair to me that they deceive people so that they end up paying more money than what they are initially told! In my case, we have been looking for a squash court throughout Orlando for eleven years and when I thought I had already found it, you deceive us! we have our own business and we know a lot of people! and I think that from now on thanks to what Sandra did to us, I am going to take care of not recommending that sports club to all the people we know and I am going to publish it all over the social networks so that all of Orlando knows and that they don't sign up with you!! The procedure that you have to deceive people is not good for us! and if that's not how you work, then you shouldn't have people like that working for you because you're fooling people!!
