Just moved here on 10/2/22. On Friday, 10/7/22 a female toddler somehow slipped out of her home and was crying near the street, saying that her daddy went to the store. At 4:10 p.m. neighbor called the Redding PD, after no one in the answered doors, or even banging on windows and yelling that child is outside crying an unattended. At 4:30 called PD again and told they are working the case Apparently from their office, as still no PD arrivel. By then, 6 different neighbors where taking care of the 3 year old and took turns calling PD. Last one to call was told no one answers The call at that resident, so instead of doing a urgent welfare check we neighbors pitched in to care for her PD did not even show up till 6:10 pm
Yesterday I called Non Emergency RPD about all the homeless that were loitering on Hartnell with there stolen shopping carts and all their stolen clothes falling on to the side walk and street. The dispatcher was condescending and uninterested and told me it’s not a crime to be on the sidewalk. Years ago they would have at least gone by and move them along, but I guess having stolen carts and loitering are okay these days! I have only called Non Emergency once before and received a much better response. The dispatcher that answered the phone yesterday has no idea how to talk to concerned citizens!
I called rpd to see if they could do anything to help me with someone that was harassing me. I was transferred to Officer R. who took his time to explain everything to me & then told me my options. He was so helpful, validating & really made my craupy day so much better! I truly appreciate how much effort he put in to help me today! Thank you!!!
I am in Fresno and my daughter moved to Redding with her boyfriend about a month ago. We got a message from her asking if she could come home and that she was in trouble. We told her she was always welcome and everything went dark. Our messages were blocked and one by one our social media with our daughter was blocked. We called Redding police department immediately. They followed our leads one by one, no matter how pathetic they were. They believed our concern that she was in danger. Without an address, they managed to eventually track her down and arrest her boyfriend. She is badly battered and was held captive with no ability to reach out to us. We are so glad that we have her safely home. We take our hats off to this department that did not give up, took our concerns seriously and diligently followed one lead after the other. Thank you so much for all you have done. I believe that my daughters owes you her life. We are forever grateful for you saving her.
Tomorrow at my home. Where I rent a room. One of my roommates are throwing a large party. There will be lots of pot and other drugs. There will be more then 20 people here. These friend scare me. I have a lot of mental issues. Most my time here I have felt safe. Except when my roommate throws his party. Last time my door was closed to my room and one of his friends open my door and came in my room. He left but I was frightened. I don't know what to do. My landlord said that the party would be over by 1am. So there will be a lot of people leaving here high on drugs and drunk. I worried!!! I am scared!!! I am nervous. I don't have a friend to turn to and no where to go. I wish I could say something to law enforcement with out giving my information so no one here would know it was me telling the police.
This was posted from a friend. I won't mention names. But how is this allowed ? Police are hired to protect and serve the community. This is an outrage and a shame. It's time for a rant. The Redding Police Department is a joke! I hate being that person bashing the cops but I say this from personal experiences. My entire street was robbed and it took 4 days to get an officer to call me. We had video footage and location of the criminals. When they did call it was a sheriff and we were told the RPD will not assist us and we were given the sheriff's phone number to call of we ever felt unsafe. The sheriff said, "RPD will not be there to help you". Husaband of original poster was hit by a car across the street from the jail. Called 911 amd there was never a police response. Husband of original poster posted the details on a redding crime 2.0. The post got a lot of attention. The chief of police called the next day after seeing the post to aplogize for no police response. Then he had the audacity to ask Husband of original poster to downplay the situation if the media calls. Then today I called to report 4 thefts in the last 3 days at my business in downtown redding. I was told to call back when I wanted to report something more specific. I had to get my attitude on then and say "are you seriously telling me to be more specific? I have 4 crimes with location and descriptions. Are you ready to make some reports?" That's when he offered to have an officer call back. Yeah, no one has called me. Just wanted to share my experience as a mother, business owner and life long local of Redding.
Amazing people, I have to thank them for their help tonight. I was tailgated and almost hit by a red and silver semi at around midnight. I-5 to Anderson has become very hazardous. Sadly I had to call them for their help and interrupt them. I don't think they believed me. To be honest I never would have called if it wasnt so bad. But they were very patient. I know they cannot be everywhere at once and they are some of the hardest working, dedicated people in this city. Even if I wasnt taken seriously it was better than being dismissed completely. My word may mean absolutely nothing, but I know how hard you work and if evil did it would shake. Sometimes all it takes is an appearance, thank you.
Im domestic violence survivor also full time work out the home mother of 2 mentally children under 13. Besides the fact i was in a harressment about 3 monthunsafe condition with 9 people i have 30 police report s and did nothing. Now my car was illegally taken for my work. I called to report my only source to be in contact with my disabled client and children but my client cards and walker. One officer gave incorrect information, called back then they didnt care had no idea. Next time the dispatch was rude and didn't care. But if the police dont care than who probably someone with money
I am disgusted by the Shasta County police. My apartment got broken into twice in February and they didn't even come out or try to help. When I was in a relationship with an abusive man they didn't even try to help. I'm not impressed and if anyone has had this happen to you where the police don't help you, I'm so sorry. So -0 review. Cheers.
I respect and love police. That being said, this has to be the worst police department I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with in my entire life. They are understaffed, which I can sorta give them a pass on. However, they do not take stalking cases seriously at all. I have seen this play out with two different people. They either didn't show up in time or didn't show up at all, resulting in injuring or the person having to actually move/deal with it themselves. Get your stuff together RPD.
