Staff was friendly and helpful. One salesman told us that we could take the electric bike that we were staring at, out for a test drive. Oh boy did I want to bust my budget at that moment. But that was a bit too tempting for me plus it was smoking hot outside

I recently purchased a city bike from REI Plano, and I'm very happy with it. Nice store, very rude staff Ethan in particular. This was by far the worst customer service I’ve had at any REI. He was very rude/short/impolite—like it was a complete inconvenience for me to be picking up an online order with no one else in line. He never looked up at me until I said, “did I say something to piss you off?” after the transaction was over. His other two coworkers nearby didn’t seem to care, and maybe even found it amusing, as I saw them smiling/laughing to themselves. I’m not impressed. Do better, Plano.
I originally brought my bike to a different local shop who told me I was going to need to leave it with them for 2 weeks and it’ll be $$$. So I brought my bike in to REI for a tuneup which I should’ve just done in the first place and couldn’t be happier. Brian, Daniel, and Andy were awesome. New cables, new housings, new bottom bracket, new pedals, and a full tune have made my bike feel like new. I was able to immediately cut 1:00 off my mile time from the bike being so much smoother and easier to ride. AND they were able to get it turned around in under 48 hours for less $$ than the other shop quoted me.
I really hoped all the 500+ good reviews for this store is authentic. Today I made my first visit to this store to try on some QC and Brooks shoes that a few of my friends recommended. I didn't feel welcomed with first salesman's service. No warm feeling at all. After tried out two shoes and I said 'they are ok' in a way to look for more assistance; instead I received 'have a good day!' from the service guy. Fortunately, there is another service guy stepped in and helped after I complained. I found the shoes fitted me well after two tries. Thanks Roy for saving my day and REI's potential customer!
AMANDA helped me out in the shoe section. She is amazing. Really made me feel welcome. She really went the extra mile to help me out and even shared some helpful tips. Greatest retail shopping experience I’ve had in a long time.
I attempted to pick up my online order, and when I reached the cashier, they asked if I was picking up orders for others. I replied that I wasn't and showed them my order details and email confirmation from Rei. Unfortunately, the cashier didn't pay attention to my email and insisted that I provide my ID or passport, which seemed unreasonable. I explained that I didn't have those documents with me. Despite my explanation, the cashier denied my request to pick up the order. Afterward, I suggested providing a photo of my passport, but the cashier rejected that option as well. Feeling frustrated, I couldn't believe the situation. I requested the manager's assistance. As I was searching my email for the order code, I finally located it and was able to receive my order. However, the interaction with the cashier left me feeling uncomfortable.
Great location with helpful employees and cute displays. Was happy to find a local hiking trails guide book that we’d been looking for and could not find at Barnes & Noble. Associate even took the time to find a new copy in the back since copy on shelf was a bit handled.
There wasn't a lot of selection at this location. They do have everything for camping and bicycles but it just seemed very selective and not a broad selection. The store was clean and employees were wearing masks. The employees also asked if I needed any help and that is always a great sign. Overall a decent experience.
Cameron in the backpack section was incredible! He was so informative, personable and made it a great experience. Super excited for our trip to Thailand with our new gear!
