Preserving the history of a wonderful old race track.
Opened in 1964 next to Mt. Park Dragway in central Kentucky, the banked half-mile Clay City oval was a favorite among drivers and fans for parts of the next four decades. Racing on Friday nights, many of the nation's best dirt aces competed almost every week through the 1960s and parts of the 1970s. The track operated sporadically in the 1980s and 1990s, closing forever after the 2000 season. Hopefully this page can rekindle some great memories and uncover some long buried images of the track's history.
