Reno station

Description

The Reno station is an Amtrak intercity train station in Reno, Nevada, served by the California Zephyr train and multiple-frequency daily Thruway Motorcoach service.DescriptionThe station is located at 280 North Center Street in downtown Reno. The tracks are owned by the Union Pacific Railroad, while the station and platform are owned by the city of Reno. The station does not have a parking lot. The tracks are placed below ground level as they pass through the heart of downtown Reno. As of 2014, the station was served by the once-daily California Zephyr, running between Chicago and Emeryville, California (in the San Francisco Bay Area).. The previous year, the station served 78,827 passengers, or about 216 per day.HistoryA depot has existed at this location since the First Transcontinental Railroad arrived in Reno in 1868. A series of wooden depots, built by the Central Pacific Railroad burned down. The current stucco depot was built by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1926. The Southern Pacific Depot was also used by the Virginia & Truckee Railroad until 1950, when the railroad ceased operations. The Western Pacific Railroad historically provided service to Reno, but never used this depot – instead using the (now disused for rail service) Nevada-California-Oregon Railroad Depot, a few blocks to the east.

Decent station. Not much of a view, or much to really do in the station, pancaked with a lot of people inside it.
Do not book early in the morning. The outside to wait is very scary early in the morning. You can’t go into the building until 7:15.
Not gonna lie, I did not have high expectations for an Amtrak station in downtown Reno. As it turns out, it wasn't bad at all. I mean, not a place you want to be stuck in for hours, but perfectly acceptable for a short wait. Basic airport style chairs, a couple vending machines, and best of all, no street folk hanging about.
12 hour delay, missed lunch and dinner on new years. They gave no information other than the train would arrive "soon" for around 6 hours. Switched tracks at the 11th hour something they could have done hours earlier. Idiots, I hope the DoT ends up investing the incompetence that caused this. Never giving Amtrak another cent .
INTERESTING SETUP WITH train station below street level. Nice setup with all of these transportation options in one place.
For Amtrak stations this was a pretty basic one but it was nice it was clean it had enough seating there there wasn't much options for food around but it was in a central location and as always Amtrak staff is very accommodating
Had a great time. Most of the attractions I visited were within walking distance. Food was great and there was plenty to do.
Surprisingly old fashion classic style train strain with Victorian structure intact, being renovated with blend of artisan & technology.Vaulted curling's,train museum, wonderful waiting area,I felt safe and nostalgic at the same time Romantic & amusing. historical place.Very hospitable service.
We found it to be a dump! In the middle of the day the customer service counter was closed....so couldn't check in. Additionally, the bathrooms are locked and you need a code from customer service to open them. Can't get the code if the customer service counter is closed! Morons
No customer service. Train was 6 hours late due to weather. Amtrak website said 2:30 departure but station agent was rude. Said it could be anytime. He would not guarantee we would make the train if we left and came back at that time. Why do they even publish updates if they are not accurate? One vending machine and it’s broken. We’ve been stuck here for hours with no food or drink. Place stinks like pee, probably because 3 out of 4 toilets in the men’s room are out of order. There are several guys living in the upper lobby. Lower lobby is too small for the amount of passengers. Cool old building but it needs a lot of TLC.
