Susan at the front desk is an amazing young lady! She was cheerful, polite, and upbeat. I wasn't even staying at the hotel and she treated me with utter kindness and generosity. She went out of her way to help a guest that came before me in every way possible. I will definitely be staying here in the future and I will recommend this place to everyone I know who is visiting SLC simply because Susan is amazing! Thank you very much Susan for the water and your professionalism, kindness, and beautiful upbeat personality! That is exactly what someone would want after traveling for hours! Absolutely amazing!
The room we stayed in was the top floor, had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and washer and dryer. A lot of space and everything you would need for a longer stay. However, it was really dirty and 79°-80° in our room for the 2 nights and 2 days that we were there. After cleaning the place to where we felt comfortable enough to bring our things in, we cleaned some more. That's when we noticed the room wasn't getting any cooler at all. We personally went to the front desk it was a separate building to let them know how hot our room was and they gave us a blank stare. Then we informed them that the AC wasn't working. The front desk was quite cold, so the whole place didn't have a problem. They said they'd send someone over to check it out the next day, so we had a warm nights sleep, but never heard from them as we were out of the room most of the next day. When we checked out, they weren't at the front desk to talk to about any of it. I wouldn't stay here again
This hotel might be in the middle of Salt Lake City, but building 2 was very quiet, comfy, and I slept well. I have a gluten allergy, so I like staying at this hotel chain because of the large breakfast selection. I eat the best at Residence Inn by Marriott. The exercise center was in the same building so I enjoyed having this nearby. The staff are always friendly and treat you like family. The rooms are very spacious with a full kitchen to eat in if you like but the cities restaurants are endless. Would I recommend this hotel? Absolutely! Don't take my word for it. Go see for yourself.
Booked a unit with a common area and two bedrooms. Hotel is aged and it seems has been neglected. Met with a terrible smell upon entry. Carpets were severely stained, screen door to balcony had fallen off, stains on mattresses, washer / dryer were non-existent despite add, couch was dumpy, bar height table was fitted with standard height chairs of mixed design, walls and furniture severely scratched. Manager didn’t have other rooms, though walking through the facility I imagine all rooms are in a similar state. He did offer some points but ultimately we couldn’t stay with that smell. Not ideal looking for an alternate hotel room at 7:30p after a full day driving. Can’t comment on location as we didn’t get a chance to stick around.
This place is a joke. Booked for three nights for a weekend getaway with a friend and our three kids. Checked in the first evening and was given a room in building 2. We'll call it the musty dungeon. Hallway and room had a musty heavy feeling and our room, which appeared to be the first floor was actually 1/2 basement. Very dark and drab. We made the decision to speak with the front desk the next morning and request to be moved to building one. After a good night sleep and a decent hotel breakfast good choices, decent quality and clean breakfast area, I stopped by the front desk to speak with Victor. He was very accommodating and friendly. He took me down the hall on the first floor to show me the room that was available. It was a larger version of the same room type 2 bedroom suite very bright and a much more comfortable feel than the room in building 2. We packed up and took our belongings to the office and stored them with Victor and went out and about for the day. We received a call from him around 11:30 letting us know the room was available and we could get keys and our belongings upon our return. Fast forward to 2:30 and we arrived at the hotel to get new keys and move in. Not so fast....room had been given to someone else. WHAT?!?!? No rooms of the same type in building 1. Frustrated with the front desk clerk who had just come on duty, thinking we had no place to stay, he went to get his manager, Clarisa. She was nice, but could not move things around and get us a room in building 1. We were offered a 2nd or 3rd floor room in building 2. We took 3rd floor as wel had issues with overhead noise the night before. Ugh!! At this point my friend and I were seriously irritated, and still maintaining our cool. The manager gave me 20,000 points on my Marriott account routing it would be enough for a free night somewhere, where, I don't know. Most Marriott's are much more than that, but the gesture was nice. We lugged our things back across the parking lot and up to the 3rd floor. Room smells better. Not as musty and a little more natural light to filter in. Beautiful view of an office building right next door and a power line. ‍ Wow, just wow! Not to mention, this place is dated and needs a major remodel. Won't ever stay here again and may consider finding a different hotel for my last night in Salt Lake. Marriott, you really dropped the ball on this one. I'm usually a fan, but not today.
Great location in downtown SLC. Staff is great. Underground garage is nice in winter with snow, and also in the heat of summer. The rooms are well maintained, but a little worn it is not a new property. Walkability: Good location to walk downtown SLC. Close to Salt Palace, Temple Square, and more.
Sub-par management. To start, we arrived at the check-in time of 3 pm and were told by the front desk that they're overwhelmed, do not have a room for us yet with no definitive wait time, and to leave a number with them. Shortly afterwards, we got a call that a room was ready, but upon arrival there were missing tiles in the ceiling and work was clearly being done on the room. We were given another room with no coffee pot and non-working wifi, but at least a finished room. When we went downstairs to inquire about the wifi we confirmed we were putting in the correct name and room number, the person was unable to help us and instead gave us an IT number and told us to call for help ourselves. The next day, despite booking a 4 night reservation, we were walked-in on first by house keeping and then very rudely by the manager who told us that their system showed us having booked a single night, despite us showing our printed reservation with confirmation. Hats off to Chase Travel for having a 24/7 customer helpline that was fast, friendly, and competent. We were given no explanation by the hotel for their error, and the worst part was that with each problem we had, the staff were curt and dismissive. We had initially picked Residence Inn based on good experiences at other properties, but beware of this one! It definitely does not match others in quality. Also this has been a good reminder to always use the door bolt when inside your hotel rooms
I was enjoying my stay at this hotel, until a volleyball team decided to stay here. Every day, for hours, 30 of them decide to drink and make noise in the halls. I asked them to be quiet several times, but they ignored me. I called front desk and they said "nothing we can do." For HOURS these people stayed up drinking. ALL night! For days! I called the front desk several times and they did nothing. What kind of hotel does nothing when a nice complains? These guests deserve to be charged a noise fee, and I deserve to have a discount. I could not get a restful sleep with these people being obnoxious in hallways. Do not stay here.
Rooms are nice. Staff is courteous & often go above & beyond to be helpful. The continental breakfast has a nice variety & even had gluten-free muffin options. Rooms: Rooms are nice & roomy. We had a balcony which was a nice treat. Having a fridge & kitchen sink was also nice to have for a long stay. Nearby activities: So many places to eat nearby, shopping at the city creek mall is super convenient. Cute coffee shops & chill bars close as well. Safety: Feels very safe even walking around outside later at night. Walkability: One of the most conveniently located hotels in downtown, short walk to so many places to eat & do stuff
As a 25-year Rewards member who has Gold Elite status with Bonvoy, it pains me to write this review, but this place should be avoided by everyone. The room we were given was dirty, with loose items on the shelves and mold under the sink. The stainless appliances had clearly not been wiped in some time. Aside from the filth, in this two-bedroom suite were a total of 2 coffee cups, 2 spoons, 3 dishes and one pot for perhaps boiling water. In other words, the room was ill-equipped to use the appliances that were in it. There was no extra bedding despite a sofa-bed being available. Even the TVs were substandard with spotty reception and a digital welcome page that had the wrong time and the wrong name. I will never stay at this location again. It is by far the dumpiest Marriott property I’ve ever experienced. I have written Bonvoy and the owner of the property several times, and my messages have been either ignored or, worse, responded to with "We will look into this and it will be better the next time you stay with us." Presumptuous, at best.
