I signed up for Revature on July 18, 2022. They are VERY transparent with everything that they do and everything that will be expected from you. You can get more than just a few hundred dollar for moving expenses. You go through basically a coding bootcamp for 3-4 months in a very quick paced program. Getting paid to do so the entire time. Due to the recession I have not been placed with a client, but they have given me the option to search for other employment and will continue attempting to find a client for me. Just sharing my repo URL from the work I have done at Revature has gotten me 8 calls in the first 3 days of searching. Basically the only way you will get sued for breach of contract is if you go into the program and then just say screw it I'm no longer willing to relocate or I will not do that. Get sick and can't finish, mutual release, can't keep up with the program, mutual release, have some unexpected life event prevent you from finishing, mutual release. All the people giving it a bad review either did not realize you're getting paid training that you'd have to pay for most places or did not understand that your minimum pay with a client is much higher than "indentured servitude."
Idk what all the fuss is about. It actually blows my mind. All the reviews made me really scared to join. i joined revature in march 2022 with absolutely no software experience and completed a 6 month training in java/react and got hired immediately at a company called infosys, moved out of my mother's house, etc. The training is rigorous, fast-paced, and tough, but if you do well in it opportunities will come. I don't have kids, i'm single and i'm 27 with a degree in mass comm. i never had luck getting into the comm. field so i averted my career path and indulged myself in programming. i'm glad i did. Revature literally pays you to learn what they teach you, yes the agreement is you cant leave for 2 years and have to work for other companies, but you end up making more money and gaining a lot more experience. you'd come out of the 2 years knowing multiple languages and a chunky resume. i pretty much experienced the opposite of what i see some of these reviews say. i'm wondering if the reviews are made by people who didnt even join revature and want to make themselves feel good by slapping a nasty review on there. i was terrified going into revature but if you seriously put the hard work in, stick to a schedule, code code code, you'll come out a happy sailor. maybe some people took issue with the pay or the fact that you might have to travel to different states, but i viewed all of that as a positive, i dont have kids, and im single. Anyways i wish everyone the best!
I’d say the worst thing about Revature is the modern-day indentured servitude. They make you sign a contract that if you quit at any point, you’ll have to pay them back 30k probably more now. The contract probably wouldn’t hold up in court but they don’t pay you enough to retain a lawyer and take a trial to court anyways. Also they can ship you off anywhere in the continental US with literally a few days notice. You have a rental lease you now need to break and a car that you need to drive 1000-2000 miles or take a really expensive last minute flight to get to your next location? Too bad, Revature will just give you a few hundred dollars to cover the costs when in reality it costs a couple thousand. You’re better off getting an internship or working for companies like Cognizant or Infosys.
The learning environment is extremely fast paced and while the pay begins low there is ample room for advancement. Worst case you learn a little Java code. Don't let the contract scare you.
I would not recommend working here. They cannot communicate with themselves at all and they cannot even submit paperwork you requested 4 mo ago. There's a whole host of other complaints I can make, but the bottom line is this was a mistake. I recommend strongly that you don't work here. Go somewhere else for recruitment
Appreciate the heads up. Was about to apply for a "business analyst" role, saw these reviews and it saved me whatever time they might've wasted of mine. Shouts out to you guys.
