About

We provide compassionate support and personalized, meaningful services for families in Scituate, Massachusetts and surrounding towns.

Description

Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home is a combination of the Ernest A. Richardson Funeral Home (est. 1955) and the Edward J. Gaffey & Sons Funeral Home (est. 1969). Our home, located on First Parish Road, has transformed from a simple 1890s farmhouse with the town post office in the front room to a warm and inviting building, including a spacious chapel for large services and a smaller room for more intimate gatherings.

All of our services are designed to help our client families through one of the most personal and challenging stages of life. We understand losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience, and we are committed to helping our client families with compassionate, professional and personal service.

Our commitment to our community has remained unchanged, yet our funeral home has always responded to the changing needs of the community. We’re proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Dignity Memorial providers offer exclusive benefits, including National Transferability of Prearranged Services, the Bereavement Travel Program, the 24-Hour Compassion Helpline® and access to an acclaimed grief management library. The Dignity Memorial brand is your assurance of quality, value, caring service and customer satisfaction.

Our funeral directors Sara Collins and Mike McCormack are dedicated to our beautiful community and all of the families we serve. Mike was born and raised in Rockland, where he lives with his wife and Sara is from Rhode Island and moved to Scituate with her husband and two children in 2014.

We could not be happier with all the fantastic preparations for my mom's Joan Hunter celebration of her life. Every detail was handled, Mary and Sarah and the team were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure the services were perfect. We are very grateful for an awesome experience. Thank you !!
We have had the occasion to use Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home twice in the last 7 months. They are outstanding! They were so kind and caring to us, our relatives and friends. The staff skillfully arranged our services down to the last detail. We highly recommend them.
Where to begin. From the moment we first called to essentially ask what to do we were treated with grace and a special sense of care that I never would have imagined. Mary and the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, informed, assured and literally led us through uncharted processes for all of us.
Words cannot express how grateful our family is for the service, care, and support we received from Richardson-Gaffey. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate us during the loss of our father made his passing a celebration of life. Thank you you to Michael and the entire team.
My family has had to use them 3 times in the past 2 months. They made such a difficult time easier. I can not say enough wonderful things about them. They are angels!!!
We were very pleased with the arrangements for my Dad that were handled by Mike McCormack at Richardson Gaffey Funeral Home. Mike was friendly and helpful at our meeting and very clear about our options. He answered our questions and supported our unusual requests for making our own cremation box and urn box. He was available in person, by email and by telephone and contacted us promptly. We appreciate Mike’s willingness to think outside the box, as a result my Dad’s hours were exactly what we envisioned. We never felt rushed or pressured at any time before, during or after the hours. We found the entire staff at RG to be professional and kind and would recommend them highly.
I was very happy with the services provided by the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home for both of my parents. The Funeral Directors work well together to make sure someone is always available and knowledgeable to quickly respond to all e-mails and phone calls. They were able to seamlessly coordinate arrangements for both funerals from long distance. I loved the ability to create a Dignity memorial tribute video for each parent to go along with their online obituaries as a long-term remembrance.
Sara and Mary at Richardon Gaffey were incredibly compassionate, comforting, and professional. They anticipated every need we might've had and made us feel so taken care of which was greatly appreciated at such a difficult time. They felt like they were part of our family and truly made us feel loved and comforted which is more than you could ever ask from a funeral home. For the visitation they were amazing in their willingness to make it so very special and so reflective of my Mom's spirit and life including hanging all of her beautiful artwork on their walls and showing special movies of her life. It was wonderful. Thank you Sara and Mary - The Scahill Family
Sara Collins and her staff were extremely compassionate and professional. Under difficult circumstances, it was a pleasure working with people who were sensitive to everyone's emotional state while guiding us through a very personal process. Despite the snowy weather, the drivers who transported our Mom for an out-ot-state burial could not have been nicer to work with. Everyone at Richardson-Gaffey helped to ease the stress of a arranging and executing a multi state funeral and burial which was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend them as they are truly compassionate people who take great pride in their work and the satisfaction of their customers.
Michael and all of the staff at Richardson-Gaffey were kind, respectful and helpful. They truly took care of are mom and helped us with even tiny details. They walked us through every step of the process and ensured that we were able to focus on our mom and each other. I highly recommend Richardson-Gaffey during these difficult times. Breida Collins
