Randomly pulled off the highway to explore and happened upon this spot. It was early morning, and I pulled in just because it looked to be open. Very pleasant surprise! A little conglomerate of businesses including the Cafe, a farmers market, gem shop, gas station, and my personal favorite- The Pie Box. Behind all of this is a pleasant outdoor garden/ nature spot that is open for relaxing, walking the dog, and checking out a little steam and waterfall. The Pie Box has a seating area inside with large windows that open up to the outside. I imagine if I lived here I would enjoy a Pie breakfast and coffee too frequently. The bakers were busy and the place smelled amazing! Good selection of freshly made pies... too many to mention. Got a slice of peach which was delicious and not too sweet. Cool spot that is family oriented and a good spot to stretch your legs or just relax and have a treat.
Great experience! Food and service was excellent! Yes! We did get some pie, yummy for sure! Don't forget the gardens and the little knick-knack shops around the restaurant! It wad a fun day out!Food: 5/5
Loved it went to spend time with my grandparents and my mother. The place is a cute, warm place for family and friends. They have a 2nd floor called the "Christmas floor" everything is all Christmas. They also sell ice cream, jams, sauce, and jewelry . The restaurant was good service the blueberry was appetizing, and customer service was great . They are very welcoming.
This rating is on the general cafe, shop, pie, gas experience. A tourist trap. The gas was a 1.50 higher per gallon than the next city over. The pie for $8+ per slice with tax was good, but definitely not the "world's best". The bathrooms were dirty, so the fact they had a sign asking for people to leave reviews about their experience was additionally delusional. But here I am leaving a review. The gift shop had a lot of cute things apart from the "US border patrol" caps. So inappropriate and unnecessary. Do better. The only good thing I can say about my experience was that the staff was polite and helpful.
Well wasn't there for the world famous pies rock springs is known for! But a vehicle fire in front of me that just happened I was in the right place to help a tow truck driver on I 17 extinguish a vehicle fire, with a larger extinguisher, this is what happens when you tow a front wheel drive vehicle the wrong way, transmission is spinning with out lubricant got so hot it caught the transmission on just need to replace My extinguisher Molly the wounder dog and her faithful companion me saves the day aging all in a days work for a disabled veteran still serving his community and doing the right thing the driver was was pretty shook up, but after a similar experience last year on the beeline highway I watched a semi tractor trailer 40 ft with a non proficient driver out of Chicago come down from Payson overheat his breaks stop and set in the cab till the breaks bursts into flames continued to set there till I crossed the median and ran over to him ,he said to me what do I do what do I do! I said get you fire extinguisher out and I stopped a tanker trailer driver and got his fire extinguisher but buy that time the back of the truck and front of the trailer was fully engulfed and the small extinguishers and the lack of help buy the driver and the slow moving tanker driver I'm sure I could have saved that 150,000 dollar truck let alone the the load that was lost and the time and effort for the debree to get cleaned up and the inconvenience of the south bound lanes closed for hours, luckily no one was injured, just the drivers pride! Luckily after I saw it was beyond stopping I had the driver get his personal stuff out of the cab before the whole enchilada burnt to the ground I mean toast! So that's why I carry a large extinguisher, stay safe out there!!
How did I miss this place? I've driven by many, many times and always notice the sign for pie. I love pie. I think I have reminded myself many times that I should stop by there next time I'm passing through. I'm kicking myself for not stopping EVERY time I've passed through. The building was fantastic! So many things to look at. I loved the little Christmas area upstairs. We went to the cafe and ordered some pie. The server was so nice! We'd come back just for her. The pie was so good! I think we got a Tennessee Lemon and Strawberry Rhubarb. They were both fantastic. We also ordered some ice waters. We both commented that the ice water was some of the best water we've had in a long time. I saw the filtration system in the way to the bathroom and took a picture of it. I want one! Also, the bathroom... It was crazy! The urinals were beer kegs, there were license plates all over the walls and the sink faucets were some kind of Steampunk contraption. Pretty cool! On our way out, we noticed a little garden off to the side. We walked through and it just kept going. It's a whole event venue. There was so much space! there were multiple levels with drink stations and a waterfall and trees and plants everywhere. It was very impressive. There wasn't an event happening so we were just wandering around to look at stuff. We will definitely be back. We have like 20 more pie flavors to try.
Let me just preface this by saying that I am not a pie person. I don’t normally like fruit pie, or cream pie, I do enjoy a pumpkin or a sweet potato pie, but that’s normally the extent. My boyfriend and I stopped here after visiting Chilleens, because he was raving about the pie. When we went in there were quite a few pies on the menu, but not pumpkin or sweet potato it was the middle of summer so I went with apple. When I tell you that this was the best damn apple pie I’ve ever had in my life… holy… anytime we pass this place from now on, it is my mission to stop in and try a different pie. I feel like they make our how pie is supposed to be made. I’m definitely still not a pie person, unless it’s a rock springs pie.
Rock Springs Café is a historic restaurant in Black Canyon City, Arizona, that has been serving homestyle cooking since 1918. It is known for its delicious pies, made from scratch using fresh ingredients. The café also has a wide variety of other dishes on the menu, including steaks, chicken, and sandwiches. The restaurant is located in a charming old building with a rustic charm. There are two dining rooms, one with a fireplace and one with a view of the mountains. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is always excellent. I've driven by Rock Springs Café many times before, but I never stopped. I always regret it, because the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is so welcoming. I finally decided to stop in one day, and I was not disappointed. I started with a slice of the pecan pie, which was absolutely amazing. The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was rich and flavorful. For my main course, I had the chicken fried steak, which was cooked perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The vegetables were also fresh and delicious. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Rock Springs Café. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a historic setting. I would definitely give it a 9 out of 10. The restaurant has a gift shop that sells souvenirs, including Rock Springs Café-branded pies. I would definitely recommend visiting Rock Springs Café during the farmers market. The farmers market is held every Saturday from 8am to 12pm, and it is a great place to find fresh produce, locally made crafts, and other unique items. The café also has a booth at the farmers market, where you can buy pies and other pastries. I'm so glad that I finally stopped at Rock Springs Café. It is a hidden gem in Arizona, and I'm sure I'll be back many times in the future. Here are some additional thoughts The portions are generous, so you're sure to leave feeling full. Loved how historical this place is! We had dinner here, and the food was just ok. We were sat fairly quickly but waited a long time before having our order taken. When we were finally served, Linda's service was great. The pie was ok, I had the lemon meringue. If we lived local I would consider trying another pie but that's it.Food: 3/5
We’ve been going to this place to grab lunch and their famous pies for many years. While you might think that a $20+ pie is expensive, once you taste it, you easily would pay $50 for it. I always get the banana cream pie, but my wife and kids love the Mixed Berry pie with crumbles. I don’t even like berry pie, but it is sensational. In the last year, they have built a new building, called the Pie Box so that the customers going just for the pie don’t block the restaurant entrance with long lines. They actually have really good burgers. The bathrooms are very unique, especially the keg urinals. The exterior is pretty cool, so it’s worth a walk down to the little creek in the back of the restaurant. There is a huge bandstand and dance patio in the back of the place, as well as a mini restaurant and serving area for weddings and parties.
