Rock Steady Boxing Orlando brings hope to people with Parkinson's disease (PD) through non-contact, boxing enriched fitness classes.
Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) Orlando enables people with Parkinson’s disease to FIGHT BACK while improving their quality of life through a non-contact boxing based fitness curriculum. Training classes at RSB Orlando, taught by Certified Rock Steady Boxing Coaches, include an exercise program that attacks Parkinson’s at its vulnerable neurological points. Recent studies suggest that intense exercise programs may be “neuro-protective”, actually working to delay the progression of symptoms.
While focusing on overall fitness, strength training, reaction time and balance, workouts include: focus mitts, heavy bags, speed bags, jump rope, core work, calisthenics, and circuit weight training. No boxing experience is necessary and people of all ages and all levels of Parkinson’s are invited to participate. Boxers, both male and female, range in age from mid-30s to early 90s.
At Rock Steady Boxing Orlando, Parkinson’s disease is the opponent. Exercises vary in purpose and form from voice exercises (yes, we get loud!) to ground and pound on the punching bag, but all share one common trait: they are intended to extend the perceived capabilities of the participant in an innovative, motivating, and fun environment.
