The Science Department of Rogue Community College, nestled in the Rogue Valley, offers courses on both the Redwood Campus in Grants Pass, the Riverside Campus iin Meford, Oregon, as well as a variety of courses online.
Our department consists of dedicated faculty and staff, whose primary goal is student success and excitement of the scientific world! Our transferable courses are designed to give students the skills necessary to succeed in their next steps, whether onto a technical program or transfer institution. The mission of the Rogue Community College Science Department is to delve into the mysteries and wonders of the natural world through rationally and systematically observing, identifying, describing, experimenting and explaining scientific phenomena. Through lecture, lab, and field courses in physics, chemistry, biology, anatomy and physiology, geology, astronomy, oceanography and ecology the importance of critical thinking and logical reasoning will be stressed. The Science Department is also committed to the concept that science has a practical application and has to be understood in a larger cultural context. It is through inquiry that students are able to view science as an interdisciplinary study applicable to society.
