Rose Hills Memorial Park

This review is being given post my grandmother & uncle’s burial. As we all know, burials are not cheap, but we, the family try to honor our loved ones wishes. With that being said my grandmother paid for a double plot for her and my uncle years back so that helped the family out somewhat on the expense, unfortunately she passed this year and my uncle 4 months later. The cost of having to bury 2 family members back to back is a strain, I say all this because although the day of burials staff were respectful to the family’s grief, it is still a business at the end of the day! Some family members and I traveled over the weekend to Putnam Valley to visit my grandmother and uncle’s grave to leave them a basket of flowers, upon arriving to the grounds, we were unable to locate our loved ones grave because the temporary metal marker that we paid for through the funeral director, who arranged everything with Rose Hills Memorial Park, did not inform us that Rose Hills’ policy is that temporary markers are only up for 1 week! So we had to try and figure out which gravesite belonged to our loved ones by calling family members to see if they had photos the day of burial or video to try and guess which gravesite my grandmother and uncle were in just to pay our respects and bring them flowers. What!?! Could you imagine having to search gravesites to see where your loved is buried at? I couldn’t imagine, but that was the task we were left with because we thought because we paid for a temporary marker that it would be their whenever we visited until we could afford the $4,320 headstone after paying nearly $10,000 to bury our loved ones 4 months apart. I called the office today to find out what happened to the temporary marker and spoke with Michelle who informed me of this ridiculous policy, but said we placed the flower basket at the correct gravesite! Needless to say, I’m heartbroken and felt as if I lost them all over again.

During such a difficult time, I had a comforting experience with kind and caring staff. Sun Hee Yi and Shannon Kriska provided friendly customer service as well as my attendant on the day of the service. Overall a good experience and a lovely resting place for my parents! Thank you Rose Hills staff.

I must say I love this place for myself!! I have three family members there. My mom, grandmother are in a wall overlooking a beautiful mountain, tree scenery. My uncle is near the church looking up at their wall! Although we were morning, My family and I included felt a sense of peace while we were there!

Just visited recently and very disappointed. The chapel is filthy. The carpeting is stained, the cushions in the pews are old and dirty. It is obvious that their main concern is MONEY, since they have drawers, graves and cremation urns placed on top of each other. I’ve been going there for over 20 years and it is a disgrace to the loved ones who paid so much money to rest at a place that doesn’t care about the conditions. Shame on the management.

Sadly, we did not have a pleasant experience today. We arrive as scheduled to inter a husband and wife. The ground keepers had opened the wall plot and the names of the deseased were on the crypt but no one from the office arrived to perform the Interment. We waited for an hour in 100 degree heat, only to be told our paperwork was not in order and we should leave. They had cashed the check and performed no service. Everyone was in tears. They said that once the paperwork was completed we would need to pay $850 to open the wall plot again! Heartbreaking. The staff exhibited no compassion or professionalism.

Beautiful place. Sal was amazing in helping us locate my brother who had been buried over 30 years. I visited after hours and the help he provided was exceptional. Thank you so much Sal!

I visit my mom and dad, now my young brother and sister in law at least twice per year....grass is well kept and Rose Hills seems very serene. I am hoping it will be my last resting place as well..... Sincerely, Christina Lindsay

Highly recommend this place both my parents are in the mausoleum and my dad also purchased three additional mausoleums for myself my sister and my brother a beautiful place yesterday was my mom's birthday my daughter and son went to visit recommend this place

Just buried my DAD there Thursday wonderful place wonderful staff very nice comfortable place to visit your loved ones.
