I'm a rated disabled vet and go here often. First, the outpatient clinic is great. They are empathetic and reasonably treat pain. The pharmacy is very fast even if it's a very small area. I've never had a problem with them. If they have sent out your medication through the mail, it can take up to a week to receive it, but often they will give you a partial dose at the window. The biggest problem with the VA system in general is the lack of doctors. I have to see a PA through teleconference when I go see the doctor. However, if you are rated over 50%, they will allow you to see a doctor in the community. I'm not a fan of being required to wear a face mask still, but it's a hospital so I understand. The lab is the fastest I've ever seen and x-ray is great.
I used to trash the VA all the time, but today I went to the Urgent Care, and I got the best care I've had in years. The nurses were very polite and the doctor helped me right away, and he was very thorough. The Urgent Care in the Roseburg VA has significantly improved! Thank you, it's like a whole new place!
Be prepared for mental attacks, intimidating tactics and verbal abuse if you question staff or have a different opinion. The patient advocates do not advocate for veterans they cause more harm then good and advocate for staff. This has been a nightmare
Place is oddly in a constant state of remodel.'If you don't burn that yax payer money, ya loose it!' While the hoops for vets to jump through change seemingly ever year. Pharmacy was working great, now techs can't wipe their own noses without permission from 'tele-health' docs not even in the same state. But hey, who am I? Other than the guy hooked now on pharmaceuticals thanks to the v.a. Sitting now for two hours in a cramped storage closet- called a waiting room, while for the second time this week Tuesday the computers crapped out. But luckily Oregon just voted to help fund a federal level site. That should help line more pockets and screw up things that had been working. 2/5 puts on a good front at entry level. Go anywhere else.
Okay, honestly this VA has treated me well enough. But it's really hard to get good advice because the system seems to bury both workers and veterans in "checklists". Anyhow, wish me luck on my surgery, thank you for covering it.
If you can, by all costs avoid staying at the CLC Riverhouse for any period of time. That is their long-term recovery treatment facility. While there are a few very professional people working in there, the rest of them are liars and backstabbers. They think nothing of writing ANYTHING they want regardless of how erroneous onto your medical records - aides, nurses, they are all able to put down anything that passes through their dense brains on a whim. Obvious that very few of them are trained in documenting and recording facts. One of the physical therapist and the "social worker" were two of the worst - just absolutely miserable liars but they weren't the only ones. If you do end up in one of their residential care facilities, make sure you check EVERYTHING they "document" EVERY day.
I have absolutely no problems with the care I've received at Roseberg and the North Bend clinic.
The people here, especially the night shift, are so helpful. Especially the night shift. Always professional, always encouraging and never, ever seeming bothered or annoyed at being called on to help.
I got the opportunity to give back by Volunteering to our veterans. We need better care for the men and women who served our country. I can’t wait to go back and help.
