Incredibly disappointed with Dr. Henshaw and would not recommend him to anyone. He is incredibly dismissive and rude dealing with his patients, and is seeking to spend as little time talking to you as possible. If you want a doctor that cares about your ailment and is seeking to help you, LOOK ELSEHWERE.
Great doctor he did my shoulder surgery I m back to playing my cricket game
I cannot warn against seeing dr henshaw enough. If your problem isn’t easily diagnosable within 30 seconds, or god forbid you disagree with the diagnosis, he will want nothing to do with you. I recommend finding a less prideful doctor with a smaller ego, one who wants to actually help their patients.
I went to Dr. Henshaw many years ago for “tennis elbow” and thought he was a great doctor. He was personable, smart, efficient and dedicated. I referred many friends and family members to him throughout the years. I recently went to him regarding a different issue, and it was an awful experience and TOTAL waste of my time. He didn’t spend any time with me, he gave me information that was contrary to results I’ve gotten from several other doctors, and he didn’t address why I had pain because the X-ray didn’t show anything. Normally, an orthopedic would go further and order an mri because a person doesn’t get sudden onset acute pain for no reason, and I had been experiencing it for about 2 months. I’ve had to cancel daily activities because some days I can’t put weight on my right side because of the hip pain. He was dismissive and when I asked for copies of the X-rays he told me take pictures of the images on the light board they clip them on. I meant a disc of course which offices usually provide you with upon request. He just wanted to get out of the exam room and was annoyed when I asked questions. I already know there’s a problem on that side whether it’s from my hip, my si joint or whatever because I have confirmed arthritis in both areas and find it hard to believe that I’m suddenly cured. I didn’t insist on waiting to get a disc because by then I didn’t want to waste any more time and will have the office send it to a provider who cares and listens to the patient. I was shocked and taken aback. He was not the same young, caring, personable and helpful doctor I went to long ago and over a course of a couple of years for cortisone shots. I’m finding more and more doctors talking to patients with their hand on the door knob to get out of the exam room. Whether Dr. Henshaw has fallen prey to a system where insurance companies and big business are dictating a patient’s healthcare or he is just not a caring, dedicated doctor anymore I don’t know. And while I empathize with the predicament they find themselves in, I do not give them a pass. Doctors take an oath to care for their patients. What if they got together and fought this system. Stop selling out to all the for profit healthcare giants where billing is the priority not the health of patients. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the Dr. Henshaw I went to a few weeks ago to the Dr. Henshaw who listened and got to the source of my pain many, many years ago and treated me accordingly. I have a couple of wonderful doctors that are still dedicated to making patients healthy and I thank them for that. Would Dr. Henshaw have treated his wife, mother or daughter the way he treated me - I think not. He would have listened and requested further testing to get to the source. I will get off my soap box now but I’ve had a couple of very bad experiences over the last 6 years, where one doctor ignored my pain post Laminectomy resulting in permanent nerve damage that could have been avoided. Luckily after 9 months of excruciating pain, I sought a 2nd opinion and got one of the good guys, a great spine doctor in Danbury much better than the surgeon I had at Yale and interestingly when he performed the surgery in addition to the incomplete job the 1st surgeon did, I also had three spine fractures that didn’t show up on X-ray or MRI. So, Dr. Henshaw please listen to your patients and don’t dismiss them. I’m not a whiner and have lived with chronic, excruciating pain for a long while and I do know when something is wrong. The X-ray didn’t show anything but perhaps an MRI will, and I will find a doctor who will treat me with the respect and caring that I deserve and every patient deserves. Important to note - I am NOT seeking opioid pain relief for the pain. I am trying to find out where it’s stemming from and hopefully get the appropriate treatment to fix or minimize the pain.
Ask ahead of time what your bill will be for a visit. My son saw Henshaw for a simple follow-up, and I mean so simple he only spent 5 minutes, maybe less with him. He was in network and received over $1200 from our insurance and then we were also billed just shy of $1000. Rude billing agent tells me it's because he diagnosed a fracture. Not true, it was already diagnosed and wasn't even a real fracture. He did next to NOTHING. Nearly $2200 for 5 minutes. This is an example of how screwed up our healthcare system is. Glad we didn't return for the follow up that Dr. Henshaw knew we didn't need though told us to schedule. Been fleeced before with medical bills, but this one takes the cake.
I fell on my left side, injuring tearing my rotator cuff & biceps tendon. Dr Henshaw performed corrective to repair my shoulder. He did a fantastic surgery! Very small, very neat incision. My results have been awesome, no residual aching or pain... My physical therapist Disha was also wonderful. Thank you Dr H. & I highly recommend Dr D Ross Henshaw. Dr Henshaw's PA John is also very good, answers questions, & explains things very well. Both Dr. H & John have nice personalities.
Dr. Henshaw is phenomenal! Caring, attentive, great bedside manner...and most importantly my knee surgery went perfectly! He followed up with a phone call in the evening. Surgical center called the next day and today Dr. Henshaw's PA called! Fantastic. EVERYONE in the office and surgical center were perfectly wonderful. Too bad there are not 10 stars instead of 5 for a review . I highly recommend Dr. Henshaw.
Amazing Dr in Ct
I have been extremely disappointed how the office did not follow the CDC guidelines. I have followed the COVID protocol after I have travelled outside of the state - I completed the Travel Health Form and provided my tests to the Commissioner of Public Health and I have been cleared but because the receptionist couldn’t count correctly when the 90 day period ends after I have been positive and recovered from COVID  I was not allowed to see the doctor. I completely understand that we should be safe but we should follow the official CT guidelines and don’t’ simply come up with personal interpretation especially when we are in a healthcare facility.
Ross was amazing.. despite a second opinion from HSS in Manhattan, I opted to go with Ross who trained at HSS.. had such great results on my right rotator cuff that I didn't hesitate to have Ross do my left rotator cuff, both shoulders requiring a substantial amount of re structuring, and both outcomes great. Add to that a truly caring and engaged demeanor, and Ross is your guy..
