Roy Ingersoll founded Roy's Lock Shop in 1957. This was the first locksmith in Osceola County. Roy started the business in his garage back when very few people even locked their house at night. He was the type of person who had several hobbies and this started out as one. When business began to grow, he opened a shop in downtown Kissimmee on Ruby Street. Since he was out on the road doing service calls, he had his wife Terry run the shop and cut keys. Having three teenage children at home, she had to juggle business and raise kids over the phone.
They decided to buy a house on Main Street and have the business in the front room of the house. Their new location was now 818 Main Street. In 1974 Roy fell sick and a year later he passed away. His wife Terry and his son Randy then continued the business for some time. The business was still growing so they bought a lot at 306 W. Oak Street and built a new shop. Soon after, they incorporated and became Roy's Safe & Lock, Inc. Terry soon retired and her daughter Lynn took her place in the business in 1981.
