EDIT: I went here for food several times a month for years. I am disgusted to learn that the owner was not only keeping a "debt-bondage" employee in the basement of the restaurant, but also sexual assaulting the man. It saddens me that I spoke so highly of this restaurant as much as I did. Original: I have always had great customer service and great food here! I highly recommend the Pad Thai or any of the curry that they make. By far my favorite Thai place in the twin cities.
My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time a few months ago and have been back several times since! The food is very good. They have the best sesame chicken I have ever had! My boyfriend had the pad thai each time, and customized it in subsequent visits. They are open to making their dishes more spicy if you want, and doing little things like adding shrimp without the tails. The staff is very friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. I would recommend this to anyone! The place looks a little tired when you walk into it, so don't be discouraged.
This place is a hidden gem! This best Thai food in the state! I have been coming here for the last 2-3 years. The food is always made fresh and the flavors are great but subtle. The owner/chef also makes origami animals for my 7 year old. The place is bare bones and is in need of freshening up but it's not dirty. Just old. If you want some delicious food with good service give this place a shot.
The Curry Sauce Noodles one of Royal Orchid's signature dishes was AH-MAZING! Second time I went back, I ordered the same thing and it was so delicious! I love how friendly the staff are, especially the owner. He was so happy to hear I had brought someone new to try out the food there. I definitely recommend coming here for Thai food =
After driving by for years, my son and I stopped in on a Sunday night prior to close. He had the Pineapple Curry. I had the Phad Thai noodles. We were warned about ordering the Curry with medium heat. Next time we might just go with mild heat. It had some kick to it - but still tasty and lots of pineapple. My Phad Thai tasted good. I ordered it with the sea food medley shrimp, scallops, squid. The waiter recommended the Oyster Wings app. We tried them and they were delicious too. The service was good, entertaining actually. We received a lot of attention, and the owner stopped by our table to make sure we enjoyed our meal and encouraged us to tell our friends about our meal.
Royal Orchid has the best Thai food ever, anywhere, hands down. Order a side of Pad Thai to go with the rest of your meal. Everything on the menu is excellent. Leave room for sticky rice and mango or Thai custard. Thai coffee or tea.. both are outstanding. The owners come and warmly greet you, welcoming you as family. We have been customers for many years and are so greatful for this gem. Not once have we ever been dissatisfied. We HIGHLY recommend Royal Orchid. Enjoy!!!
This is a great place for Thai food. The chef came out and greeted us. He is a great guy. Very funny. It's family owned and run so it was great to support a local place. Definitely coming back!
Great food!! My kids and I ate the sesame chicken and the pad seeiw sp?. They were both delicious. Although these dishes are also generally delicious at any other Thai place, I liked the decor, spacious and clean and calming, and the people were just so nice. Food prepared by kind people who are happy is just so much better.
I recently was in the mood for Thai, did a quick Google search, and decided to try Royal Orchid out. It was one of the best spontaneous decisions I have made! The food is absolutely delicious and the owners are so friendly and helpful. The high ratings for this place are well earned, and it will be my go-to for Thai food from now on!
I've been going to the owners restaurant for 20years. He by far has the best thai food with a subtle but distinct flavor. Always fresh and consistent. Owner is a wonderful family. "Tip" eat slow and savor the flavors of this healthy and delicious food. You won't be disappointed... JON
