○ What is RU SHRM?
RU SHRM is the Rutgers University (RU) graduate student chapter of the National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is affiliated with the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR). Joining RU SHRM is about helping you network, develop as an HR Professional, and gaining HR employment.
○ What is the difference between National SHRM and RU SHRM?
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 275,000 members in over 160 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Whereas RU SHRM is the graduate student chapter of the National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at Rutgers University in New Jersey and is affiliated with the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR).
○ What kinds of events are organized by RU SHRM?
We organize various events throughout the year, such as General Member meetings, multicultural nights, buddy/connection night, HR Career Panels, and holiday dinners. RU SHRM also organizes workshops like Dining Etiquette, Resume Writing and Interview Skills, and Networking Workshops. These events and workshops help members in networking and developing as an HR Professional. HR leaders and Rutgers Alumni attend these events to share their experiences and guide current members in their career paths.
In addition, RU SHRM hosts an annual business conference in the Spring of each year. The conference attracts more than 200 top executive business leaders, human resource professionals, graduate and undergraduate students, and Rutgers HR faculty and staff experts.

The RU SHRM Chapter number is #5154. When becoming a National SHRM member under Student Membership, you will be asked to enter in the RU SHRM chapter number.
