Ruby's Diner

Description

Ruby's Diner first opened on December 7, 1982 in a converted bait shop at the end of the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, California. The diner was named after the mother of founder Doug Cavanaugh, Ruby, and the icon Ruby Girl logo was derived from her high school Cheerleading photo.
Ruby’s Diners are aesthetically designed after American Diners of the Swing Era. While basic decor remains the same for every Ruby's Diner, creative touches are added to many Ruby’s Diners by developing modified themes to fit the local area.
Ruby’s Diner serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a menu that includes classic American Diner fare of hamburgers, french fries, chili, shakes and malts along with soups, salads and sandwiches. Ruby's Diner operates 35 locations in Southern California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania; along with airport locations in Houston and Las Vegas.

Ruby's is a casual, 50s style diner with sit down and to go service. The food is classic Americana: burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes, chicken tenders, chili and a few salad options. There is an extensive beer, wine and cocktail menu as well. Wheelchair accessible entry/exit and seating available. Waitress efficiently and politely served about 15 people simultaneously-great attitude, good, fast service. Vegetarian options: There are 3 salad offerings, fries, and tater tots. Ate here on my return trip home from Las Vegas. The diner was very busy but we were seated quickly. Service was prompt and professional. Even though the diner was busy our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I had a bacon cheeseburger, which was extremely good and prepared as requested. The three others I was with, each having something other than a burger, also commented on the quality and tastiness of their meal. High quality food for being in an airport! I highly recommend having a meal here on your next stop to Las Vegas!
Food was extremely dry and overpriced. I got the chicken tender basket. Got a lot of food considering the $18 price tag. Advertised that it comes with coleslaw but the amount you get was less that a bite. Absolutely laughable. Tenders were very dry. Tasted like they had been under a hot lamp all day. Tots were ok. The orange sauce it all came with was interesting. Not bad but not great.
Ruby’s Dinet is at the top of D gate in Frontier and is cozy and comfortable. A welcome place resting one’s weary bones between flights. Food: 5/5
Skip this place if you can. Especially for breakfast. They have a very inefficient system for ordering and that makes the line long. The only menu is one sheet of paper at the register and the food took a while. The breakfast sandwich was almost laughable. Completely soggy, fell apart immediately, was cold and had some sort of awful red sauce on it. I’d suggest another place if you can.
Was passing by to just order a shake and keep on going. It seemed pretty chaotic with a lot of orders mixed up as I was waiting for my number. When I finally got my shake it was completely overflowing and the cup itself was an absolute sticky mess. Shake was as expected and I was happy after tho Shakes: 6/10 Service: 4/10 Value: 4/10 Vibes: 4/10
This restaurant is inside the airport. The burger and fries are pretty good! Fast service and plenty of seating.
I got the Ruby burger. A decent size burger with sesame seed bun containing the beef patty, tomato, lettuce and the Ruby sauce. The burger tasted very good, especially for the airport. However, the burger itself is $13.99 plus tax. I understand we have high inflation and all but this price is still a few dollars more expensive than it should be IMHO. Tasty fries with just the right amount of salt and pepper and crispiness. Cost for the basket of fries: $5.29 plus tax. The service at the counter could have been 'warmer' but that's all right. Maybe the lady was not having a great day . Overall, I would definitely recommend Ruby's diner for its food and atmosphere even though I think the total of $20.89 for one burger and a basket of fries is a bit much. Kid-friendliness: A nice colorful lively place
They stop serving breakfast at 9:30 a.m., and no place else in the airport serves breakfast beyond this time or so the hostess said. I didn't really want burgers and fries at 9:30 a.m., but took a seat anyway. I never even got that because the racist Latino waitress kept pretending she didn't see me. I'm tall and dark so hard to miss. She skipped over me and went to a white man who'd just sat down to ask him what he wanted to drink. I left. Got a breakfast sandwich, coffee and cinnamon rolls from the Cinnabon right next store. By this time, it was close to 11 a.m.
Ruby's Diner's are everywhere in Las Vegas. This locale in Concourse D of the Harry Reid International Airport is ok. The service was incredibly friendly. The atmosphere has a cool diner feel. But the food is bland. I even got extra cheese on a double and really didn't taste much. 3x
