The goal of the Generation Rx Initiative is to enhance the public understanding of medication safety and prescription drug abuse.
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, “every day approximately 2,500 young people between 12 and 17 years of age abuse a prescription painkiller for the first time”. In fact, prescription medication abuse is the leading cause of accidental death in the United States. Through this committee you will absolve most myths associated with prescription drug abuse and learn the real truth behind this growing epidemic. Students will be able to educate their community and help spread the word on this crisis. Students will receive training prior to participation.
