Rest/Relax..Fish/Swim..Hike/Bicycle.. BBQ/PICNIC..CANOE/KAYAK.etc,etc,etc !! There's so much you can do here, it's a GREAT MASSACHUSETS STATE PARK be sure and purchase a season pass for the recreational area there to enjoy everything Here's a couple of photos to guide you Please note : some photos are of the park and some are not. I hope they give you some inspiration as they do me, and please go to the park and create your own memories there while visiting.
Rutland state Park is a nice peaceful area where you could swim, fish, kayak or just relax under the trees! I love this place because of the wooded surroundings!
An absolutely beautiful state Park, I enjoyed a lovely spring day here with my son walking and seeing the beauty of nature.
Nice even walking/running/biking paths. If your not a fan of off leash dogs, best to go elsewhere. If you let your dog off leash, your in the right area.
Great atmosphere, lots of trails for easy to moderate exercise, nice beach and pond front picnic sites w grills.day use only. Good staff and well maintained. Connects w midstate trail, rail trail, and others. Beautiful sections too. High recommendation, tho it's closed for the season now I still use it for walking. Looking forward to seeing this forest in Fall.
Not good for a quiet hike. No trail maps available online or in person and Google directions took us down a dirt road only suitable for trucks. Tried to walk along Prison Camp Road and we were uncomfortably close to two groups of quail hunters.
Good for a walk, bike or run. Many trails and Jeep roads to go exploring on. Picnic & swimming by the ranger station, fishing spots by the pond and facilities are available close to the station. Knowing the climate nowadays, some women may not want to go out towards the prison camps alone very remote in some areas. Bring high-visibility clothing during hunting season.
Rutland State Park has a lot to explore. It is generally quiet with minimal foot traffic. Nature and wildlife is abundant. There's a lake, fields, trails, an old tuberculosis patient "cave" and abandoned buildings. There's a river to fish in as well. Pets are welcome. A gravel road is maintained to access many of the trails and features of the park and you may spot someone riding a horse. Can be buggy at times during the summer.
So clean, restrooms not far from the beach and super clean. Plenty of picnic tables and grills, charcoal grills make sure to bring aluminum foil or chef copper mat to cook on. So nice and relaxing, kids can play in the sand, swimming is great, 2 attentive lifeguards and park staff are friendly & helpful. Lots of trash receptacles so no excuse for not picking up. Ppl love this place so you will be called out if you are littering. Fishing, hiking, canoeing. Dogs have to be leashed. Calm & family oriented.
Easy drive from Worcester, Great place to be. However I was very surprised, that since it's after May 14th, and in season the bathrooms are locked.
