I do NOT recommend coming to this location for emergency services. Last week, I had to take my boyfriend in to the ER for severe pain from what we found to be kidney stones and a gallbladder attack gall stones. We sat for 3 hours before being called back to get care. While it was hard to sit with worry for someone I care for in pain, it was much more disturbing to see the neglect of an elderly woman. This sweet lady was apparently seen and then brought out to the waiting room on an ambulance stretcher then placed in a wheelchair. The EMT’s were kind to her but not sure why her dignity was not taken into consideration. Moving her to the wheelchair caused her hospital gown not even tied on to come up and reveal her backside in a FULL waiting room of people! This poor lady was so tired and kept toppling over in the chair falling asleep. We arrived at 11 pm, she was brought out soon after we arrived, and we went back at 2 am. I feared that she would fall out of the chair and couldn’t tell if she was tied in. It did not appear so. Staff walked by her for hours with her bobbing, almost falling out of the chair, and her gown loose. One staff member finally stopped and told her she had to stay awake and loosely put a blanket on her but not covered her or bothered to tie her gown. She must have been so tired and cold. Not sure why they couldn’t put her on a stretcher with rails to let her sleep until either her family or nursing home could come get her. We heard over and over how there were no beds but right outside our room once we got in there were 2 sitting there by the wall. My boyfriend should have been admitted because he had a 8mm kidney stone and partially blocked kidney. Even his report said that he should be admitted and it went to his urologist as well. As upsetting as that was, it didn’t compare to the pain we both felt watching that woman be ignored for hours. She is someone’s loved one! If that was someone I cared about, I would have been devastated to see how she froze and anguished in exhaustion for hours as she did. Do better St. Luke’s.
I was at work and fell. I had blood gushing out of my face. I went in an ambulance. Arrived at the hospital. They took me into an office. Got my information and told me to go to the waiting room. I was covered in blood and was in a lot of pain. All they did was hand me a wash cloth. My husband came and was shocked to see me. My face was so swollen it was freaky. I was there for hours They did give me a CT Scan. But not even any ice for my face. I will not ever recommend going to their ER. One lady told us she was there last Friday. She went in at 1:15 in the afternoon because her Doctor told her to go and get checked because he thought she may have a block in her lungs. He had told her it should only take an hour and a half or so. The poor woman was their in the ER till 2:00 AM. That is 13 hours in the ER. Her last name is Mowery. Both of us say we will never go back to their ER.
The ER did a very nice job. Then I was admitted to the PCU for a partially obstructed bowel. The RN's were over worked and understaffed. I had one great RN-Simin during the night shift. The hospitalitist had no communication skills. Waiting for him to complete what he said he would do took all day. Reinstating my meds were delayed and cost me immeasurable pain. Worst of all was the nurse assistant Brooke, which I had during the day all 3 days. Poor poor attitude for a job requiring great customer service. Never wanted to come to the room when asked. Very unpleasant when she did make it into my room. Generally, I felt a great sense of poor communication with me from the staff. Sorry but true.
I have a chronic acute disorder and I have spent many many days over the past 8 years in the hospital at St Luke's east. I have always found all staff members from the doctors down to the custodial personnel they are all wonderful, courteous kind, concerned for my well-being, abd proactive in my care. The only thing that I do have to complain about is the long waits for the Emergency room. During my visit here yesterday I had to wait three and a half hours in the waiting room before I was called . It was excruciating having to sit up that long and I would really like to get seen quicker than that if possible.
I highly recommend St. Luke’s East Hospital. The level of care I received from the nurses, and doctors was top-notched and the intake and discharge process was very efficient and painless. The hospital is very busy, but I felt well taken care of in my stay. The hospital is very clean, and has the state of the art equipment needed for my health needs.
Went in the emergency room brought in by ambulance on a Friday afternoon with severe pain in my abdomen. They were able to find out that I had a strangulated hernia, get me into surgery and out so fast. Everyone taking care of me did such a great job. Thank you
I was induced for a fairly scary reason for me. During my labor, the ENTIRE team was amazing in making me feel safe and comfortable. During my postpartum stay they were FANTASTIC in making me the most comfortable. Always making me aware of every little thing they were doing for me and baby. Baby had issues with blood sugar and they were great in helping me do what i can to get it up. They were my cheerleaders the entire time. I could not speak anymore highly of this team.
Transferred from a community hospital or immediate admit due to a dangerous blood infection. Waited in lobby 5 hours, then in back 13 hours before admit, no meds, blood pressure tanking and sick. They should have done better, but most of their staff is bailing to go to hospitals with better pay and better benefits and I don’t blame them. When admitted upstairs the care was amazing. It’s just the ER is atrocious and the bathrooms filthy.
I give the care a 10 out of 10 instead of 5 out of 5.I received such wonderful care in my stay even though I did not want to be in the hospital. They treated me like family. I was in the hospital for almost 2 months and they were phenomenal!! The entire 2nd floor needs to be blessed with some sort of reward or award because they are awesome. When I think of my nurses from Jake to Leland to Patrick to Erica to every nurse. I could just think of everybody was awesome so kudos to all of you. Thank god for your treatment and hope not to see you in this way but to see each other in a non emergency setting again thank you
Absolutely loved all my Nurses, Jenna, Alicia, Brook, were freaking awesome. Attentive, made sure my needs were taken care of. Only one nurses assistant or aide I had an issue with. Told Jenna and she reported her to her manager. I didn’t see her again to get her name. Absolutely no complaints with any of my primary nurses.
