This is a park that most people drive right by on their way to Walmart which is located next door. The main attraction here will be the kayak rentals. There are a few tables to sit and eat a lunch and if you like to take the kids for a nature walk, there are some nature trails to walk around the property. This is not a swimming spring, but more of a kayak, canoe spring. Very scenic and is located right along buys highway 19. Easy access and plenty of parking. There is a volunteer parking fee so bring a few dollars cash with you. Nice little get away in the middle of the city.
We had a recent vacation in the area, and wanted a a place to go hiking with our dogs. It did not disappoint. The trails have many options to experience from flowing creeks and waterfalls to palm trees to an educational area about salt mining. There are several benches to take a rest or just relax. It is definitely dog friendly and all of the other owners were decent and compliant keeping them on leash. The park was well kept as we went through. Alligator warning signs were at the water ways to keep us and our furry friends safe. There is a kayak rental area, but we did not use. We had a great experience and for a $5 all day pass, you can't go wrong.
One of my favorite places to hike and kyak in the area. It's never too busy. Five bucks to park, and the Salty Dog Kyak rental people are awesome.
Very nice, quiet scenery and park. I was going to lookouts the beach but the sign said warning watch for alligators I was chicken out.
It's only $4 per car to get in. Once you're in, there are some short trails to walk. We didn't see much in the way of wildlife. There's some springs and mangroves to see. It does a pretty good job of showing you what Florida looked like before all the development. Thursday through Sunday you can rent kayaks. Maybe next time.
Pet-friendly trail, not many trash cans around, not many people, great for enjoying nature.
Very beautiful place. I walked for about an hour and a half. I had two issues overall. One; The way you pay to get in is very weird. Its $4 for a car and $2 for a walk on, but I dont understand how they can tell if you just take the envelope? Might need to invest in a machine, would make it easier to pay. My second reason would be that the place doesnt seem to be taking care of some parts of the trail. Some are very well maintained, and some are less so. Still very enjoyable and quiet, barely anyone there. You can rent kayaks but I dont know the price.
Awesome park i have visited this place before when i lived in the area 5 year's ago glad i got another chance to visit again I would definitely visit again
Recently went back hiking there with a really good friend of mine I haven’t seen in over 28 years, They have area’s where you can Stand up on and see the forest and wildlife and they have information on what kind of animals and birds are in the area as well. Great place to get away from the world and relax. On the other side of the Spring there is a place to rent kayaks and go out in the water. Really a good place to get a excellent workout. Hiking, boating, it just makes for a great day. Go check it out! I absolutely love this place!
Beautiful. Nice and quiet. Lots of little information spots about the local birds, plants and history of the area. Definitely worth a visit.
