San Miguel School, located in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, provides an innovative and accessible education to inner-city middle school students.
Through a combination of quality education, a high level of family engagement, and support though the high school years, San Miguel works to empower children and families so they may become active, contributing, and competitive members of the global community.
Our goal, within five years of 8th grade graduation, is for 100% of our alumni to be high school graduates pursuing post secondary education or gainfully employed.
Students are accepted into San Miguel based on three main criteria: academic underperformance, financial need, and living in proximity to the school.
The mission of San Miguel School is to provide an innovative and accessible educational experience for the children of inner-city families, so that they can complete high school with the skills, support and self-awareness to make the next productive choice in life. Based on Lasallian principles, San Miguel engages faculty, family and the community to meet the individualized needs of the student through middle school programs, graduate support high school youth development programs and family strengthening programs.
