Everyone was so helpful. The room was clean and quiet. The pool was clean and the kids had a wonderful time on the waterside. Was close enough to all venues we needed. And the price was great. Would 100% stay here again!Rooms: 5/5
We had a great stay here tonight. Kay greeted us warmly as we walked through the doors, which was much appreciated after a long day of travel. He checked us in quickly and gave us a good laugh too. Thank you, Kay, for the exceptional service and for helping us relieve the stress of the day. The room was comfortable and clean. The bar was relaxing, and the bartender and staff were excellent. I look forward to staying here again.
Spent an hour on the phone with the front desk and the call center making a corporate reservation for my partner and myself for her coming to visit, making sure that she could be the one to check in with my reservation. Gave her my ID to show the front desk with matching addresses so there wouldn't be any issues. I was at work and didn't have time to go for check in. Front desk told me multiple times not a problem she can check it and they will Honor the discount. Well she gets there and calls me the hotel has cancelled my reservation because I didn't go to check in personally, and rebooks for almost double the price because she is the one that arrived. Refused to do anything about it other than said they would Honor it if I could make it to the hotel in time.
This hotel is well located close to the Vancouver airport with reliable shuttles. One downside is that there is a lack of amenities on site. It is nearly impossible to get a decent coffee here. I tried 3x to go to the on-site Starbucks and it was closed every time. The hotel is unable to provide milk or soy substitute it has nasty room temperature creamers - I have no idea what’s in them bc there’s no ingredients. It’s also unfortunate that the hotel uses single use cutlery and coffee cups - there’s very little that’s reusable so I’m guessing it generates a disturbing amount of waste.
I love that they allow you to use the gym next door. I haven't had a chance to eat at Chop yet but I've heard nothing but good things about it. I do wish the shuttle ran more often from the airport but overall a good hotel. The rooms on one side need an update but at least they have microwaves which are slowly being removed from hotel rooms. Update: so I finally had the opportunity to eat at Chop and it did not disappoint the food was delicious and the service was great. I can't wait to get there early enough for happy hour because I want to try everything on the menu. Even without happy hour the prices were good. You must go if you are staying at the hotel or even just in the area. Edit went back still in love with Chop.
I had excellent service by both Kay and Yash when I was doing check in/check out. They were friendly and accommodating and I even scored a lovely room upgrade which was nice! The only issue with the room was I couldn’t get the shower to work, but since I was only staying the one night it wasn’t too big of a deal—I did mention it at checkout so they could notify maintenance to look into it. The room was nice and clean, and it’s handy that theirs a free shuttle to the airport!
Rooms were great except for the fact I couldn’t turn down the thermostat lower than 18.5, I had to open the patio door which wasn’t a big deal. The service from the front desk was amazing! Geshu was working the early morning when I had to checkout due to a cancelled flight from Air Canada and she was a pleasure to talk to and answered all my questions perfectly. Would definitely stay in this facility again next time I’m passing through Vancouver. Noteworthy details: Close to airport so it’s convenient and Richmond offers a lot of late night food.
Best and most influential thing in my stays in any hotel is the first major thing that I notice. In this case the great customer service! Room was clean too! The customer service is the reason I will nearly always go a little out of my way to stay in a Sandman. Kay was incredibly accommodating. Nearby activities: Swimming
Kay was our guest service agent when we checked in and created such a welcoming environment when we were greeted. He was very personable and asked about his day and we ended up being able to know a little about his journey coming to Canada. I was pleasantly surprised when he offered me an upgrade to stay at the penthouse! Upon a few minutes after entering my room, he even called up to ensure that I was happy with the space and if I required anything else. Which I obviously did not because it was gorgeous and spotless There were even treats on the table available! The bedding is definitely one of my top 3 favourite to sleep because the comforter actually has substance to it and the pillows are actually fluffy but dense. And don't even get me started on that view, where you get a little bit of city and a little bit of mountains peaking out just behind it! Highly recommend this fantastic place! 10/10 Food & drinks: In addition, we had a fantastic experience with our server Chantelle in the hotel's restaurant at Chop Steakhouse. She was very attentive, helped my indecisive brain make choices on wine and food-- which the steak frites were INCREDIBLE. The kitchen, bartender-- all of it was quick and efficient service. I had the most incredible time and we accidentally stayed until closing, while getting lost in our conversation with Chantelle but she was just so genuine in our conversation.
The 4 star rating and the price lead me to believe this would be a decent stay. I was mislead. When I arrived I was told there would be a $50/day charge that was refundable upon checkout. Perfectly fine. I assumed that I would be able to use it at the multiple places inside the hotel Starbucks, Chop, the little shop inside but was told that wasn’t the case at any of these places which leads me to ask why? Why bill us at all? Our rooms were moderately clean but with a foul odor coming from the air conditioning. It thankfully seemed to dissipate after running it for a day. We noticed housekeeping was in the next room so we opted to head to the pool for awhile so we could get a service. We returned without service and had to ask for towels and toilet paper and to have the trash taken out. When we returned they were thrown into the bathroom on top of all of my cosmetics and toiletries from home and the trash was still there. We have been here for 3 days and have only had that one “service” to our room. The only saving grace has been the indoor pool and water slide which despite its clearly marked rules, were not followed by others making it unsafe for my child. At night it’s loud and I heard loud noises from above us until 3am despite having the fan blasting. Not worth the money. I have had better service at a Holiday Inn. Safety: Caution at the indoor water slide. No staff and negligent parents letting kids run wild and going down the slide when it’s not their turn risking injury to smaller children.
