Santikos Bijou Theater

My favorite theater! I love watching movies here! The level of service is always above and beyond! The food is quite tasty as well! Always had great experiences here!

This is one of my favorite movie theaters to go to because of the kinds of movies they show here which are usually art house films. Seating is really nice as is the newly renovated lobby area. The service is excellent and the staff are always friendly and helpful. All in all I always get a great feeling at the Bijou and have a wonderful movie watching experience.

It was great to see Cyrano on the big screen here after a long time away. The Bijou offers beer and wines, as well as popcorn and other theater snacks. Chairs are oversized and comfy and have a table to place food items.

I have been going to this theater for over 15 years. I will gladly drive across town to go there. I particularly enjoy the man playing the keyboards. I have talked with him and he is very talented and is a joy to speak to. This theater is unique in all of San Antonio. The crowd is mostly older and mellow. The prices are a bit high but the service is excellent. If you don’t like it, please don’t come back. This theater is a jewel. Not for everyone but with luck you will mature and enjoy it as much as the rest of us.

Considerable improvements have been made. Always liked the place, but the seats are much more comfortable now, and I appreciate the better, more attentive service as well. Pretty good wines available for a movie theater. Nice place to escape to and see something that most other theaters in the city don't have lined up.

The theater itself is okay, but the clientele there is absolutely HORRIBLE. Went with a friend to this theater and sat down next to an older man. It was during the pre-previews to the movie, the lights were still not off. So we took our seats and while quietly wrapping up our previous conversation about the impression of this theater we liked it. This man rudely said people also like to watch these before the movie as well, I took it with a grain of salt and told him we will do our best to not disturb him. My friend asks me a quick question after that, and he very loudly told her to shut the f**k up. All this is happening before the movie even started. Needless to say, after confronting his absolute rude behavior, we went to the manager to either have him move seats or be removed entirely. But according to “corporate” because he wasn’t alone, he was with 3 other older women that said nothing, he would not be able to be forced to move seats. Messed up that movie theaters allow these Types of behaviors to stay without any penalty. According to the manager they have had these types of complaints in the past and can not do anything about it. We were able to get our tickets refunded, because we were too appalled to watch the movie still. Overall the theater was fine but the people who go there are not.

The new seats are very comfortable, everything seemed fresh and new and we were told that the continuing plans for updating the theater include a nice bar and an improved restaurant. The staff was very friendly, and there were people at every station, unlike some theaters which seem like a ghost town. If there is a movie that gets great reviews, but you can't find it anywhere, try the Bijou. They show art movies, foreign films as well as top rated popular films. We love the Bijou, hope you will give it a try.

The theatre always looks clean. The movies are most often top notch. There's usually a man playing a piano in the lobby, but he wasn't there tonight and I missed him. There were no paintings by local artists on the walls, and I missed those, too. The employees are kind and very efficient. We left laughing tonight, and the employees that told us good night laughed with us as we were leaving - which was endearing.

The popcorn was excellent and fresh! The attendant at refreshments tonight gave me hot popcorn straight for the hopper. No butter needed. The theater was clean and spacious. Love the bijou. A lot more pleasant than overcrowded theatres.

The setup is nice. It has normal theater seating and each theater has a hand drawn sign above the door. One huge area of opportunity is the service staff. It appears they do not have a sufficient amount of food runners or waiters. They need to come up with a better system to get you your food and drinks in a timely fashion. It took nearly 20 minutes for someone to take our order, another 25 for them to bring it out, and the order taking system is antiquated. They required you to open a tab to order food. However, the food was good and better than I anticipated. I would recommend a burger and the garlic parmesan tater tots but expect a wait.
