Hi!! My name is Sarah Holt and I am a health coach, a wife, and step-mom. I have struggled with my own health and weight issues for years. It was only once I started a true lifestyle change and addressing my emotions and happiness levels in all areas of my life that I saw real improvement in my health and overall wellbeing. I work with women who struggle with weight loss and also those who have "female issues" to help them find a healthy end to their suffering.
Growing up everyone I knew thought my family was the ideal family. My father taught at the local middle school and my mother worked at a local high school, so many people in the community knew my family well. I didn’t exactly have the ideal family everyone thought I did, but I guess it was pretty much the normal family life. My parents fought a lot, but I remember having a happy childhood growing up. My parents didn't have a lot of money, but I never remember that bothering me. I was pretty active and played sports like soccer and did gymnastics. When I was in elementary school, it was even a goal of mine to grow up and complete in the Olympics as a gymnast. In school, I was part of the popular crowd, and everyone knew me. I really started putting on weight when I got my period. I tried to hide and be in the background of everything. I wasn't active anymore, and I would hardly ever let people take pictures of me because I was so embarrassed of the way I looked. This continued all through college when I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem that landed me in the hospital. Miraculously, I was able to graduate on time even though I had fallen, sprained my shoulder, and ankle and wasn't able to get to all my classes.
I got a really good paying job in the corporate world and was on the fast track to success. I was making more money than any of my friends in college and I was busy building my career. I would average having a 10 hour work day, sometimes 11 or 12, when all of my colleagues were working 8 hour days. I was determined to be good at my job and succeed! I used to joke with my friends and colleagues that I was on the ice cream diet. I mean I ate ice cream for dinner almost every night of the week. Ben & Jerry’s were some of my personal friends, if you know what I mean! My diet was horrible! Lunches consisted of food from vending machines or frozen dinners, with the occasional meal out. Cook for myself? Whatever? I didn't have time to cook for myself, and didn't care enough for myself to do so either.
Surprisingly, my health really declined through all this until I ended up in my 30s, severely anemic and being diagnosed with fibroids (which is a health issue that zaps me of all my energy on a monthly basis). The real wake up call for me was when I literally though I was dying while at a Christian conference with my parents one weekend. I felt like all the life was leaving my body and leaned over to my mom and told her I loved her. If I was dying, I wanted her to know that I loved her and was thinking of her with my dying breath! Thankfully I didn’t die and I just passed out! This is when I really started looking at my life, my diet, and what I could do to help myself get back to the “old me” that I used to really love.
So, I finally came to the conclusion that I needed to approach my fibroids holistically, looking at the entire body (emotions included) and seeing what was really going on inside of me and really getting in touch with some old emotional baggage that has been holding me back from healing. This is exactly what I learned about in IIN. It is only then that I really started beginning to see positive results with what I was doing. I went from being in and out of the hospital every month to enjoying life and working out almost every day!
I graduated from IIN and am now a certified Holistic Health Coach.
