I am so grateful that they made it through the pandemic! My favorite sweet pie here when they have it is their raspberry rhubarb pie, and my husband loves the apple. The meat pies are all amazing but the Guinness is definitely the best. Service itself can be a little shoddy here, last time I went they didn't have an 86 list easily accessible for the person that helped me out so they had to stop taking our order after just about each item to see if it was still in stock, which was tedious. Our dessert slices of pie also came out heated nine minutes before we received our heated savory pies, so we ended up eating half our dessert out of hunger before we could have a proper lunch, which in itself seemed like a long wait as well considering there were only two other tables at the time, both of which already had their food. The dining room is small but very cute and features some freezers that contain take away pies, fruit, etc. We've always been really lucky to find parking on the street out front, or been at friends close enough to walk but there is a parking area out back if I'm not mistaken. Overall, we will be back for sure in the future.
Love their basil chicken sandwiches so much!! Great brunch menus and sandwiches. Their sweets are also amazing. If it were just a bit cheaper, i would go there everyday
I always love to support local, and although this is a really cool joint with friendly staff a great looking selection of pastries, my experience wasn't great. I hauled a vegan cookie at my disgust found out the register was five bucks.. wow. It was very dry, crumbly and not exciting whatsoever. The pies do look pretty dope, I'd recommend sticking with them and laying off the pastries here.
I stopped into this pie shop only because it was recommended by a kind woman walking to her vehicle. I say the pie and I just ask if the pie was good. Her response was she is from New York and it is one of the best pies she's ever had. I picked up a raspberry rhubard pie. The staff were kind and they were making fresh pies in the back of the store. They had quite the process going on. The pie was delicious. It was perfectly sweet with a nice tart from the rhubarb. The crust was buttery and light and the filling was loaded with fresh fruits. My entire family enjoyed the pie. Note warm it up for a few minutes in a toaster oven and it will be much better. All their pies have simple ingredients and is So Good!!
I ordered a Basque cheesecake online, and yes, not reading the information provided was MY mistake, but who orders a frozen cheese cake from a bakery?! It never crossed my mind that this was a thing to look out for when ordering a $24 cheese cake from a well known bakery. If I want a frozen cheese cake, I can buy one from Costco! This was the least appetizing cheese cake I have ever bought.
Stopped by here for a quick coffee and pastries. Tried the scone which looks amazing but unfortunately quite tasteless. Unsure if it was just a bad batch but I was quite disappointed. The place looks quaint and have selection of savoury pies which I might try next time.
There was a time where I would recommend Savary to friends for food and pie, but I think that's over now. It seems like the prices are constantly going up while the service is slowly declining. For $13 they could at least include some bread or a packet of crackers with the soup, but here we are. Rutabaga bacon soup was very one note - I'd rather have had a tin of canned soup.
The best apple pie….period! The apple slices inside the pie are cooked perfectly and not liquidy or starchy . The crust is flaky and crispy, not wet like most others. The other baked goods are decent but they make apple pie the best. A bit pricy but worth it… taste best with vanilla ice cream haagen dazs vanilla bean
Slightly pricy food, fair quality but really small portion. Vintage interior, pretty good vibe. Not easy to find parking.
Pretty much have to agree with other posters, food good, portions small, prices insane. Had breakfast sandwich this morning, couldn't belive how small the slices of bread were! Had a slice of pie earlier in the week, very tasty filing, small slice too much pastry crust. Bought a loaf of bread $12...seriously! Everyone wants to support local and but we'd do so much more readily/often if we felt it was better value.
