I heard good things about this place and decided to try it. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I ordered the combination platter and a side salad and two sides. The potato salad was unique, the brisket in the platter was EXTREMELY dry and cold, the pulled pork was good but also cold and the pulled chicken was just not good at all. The side salad had many wilted and old pieces of lettuce and two tomatoes that were squishy. Their homemade ranch was different and thick but it had a good flavor and I liked it. I just had to use less bc it was quite thick. There's definitely room to improve here. I'll add that the bbq sauce that came on the side was really good.
Stopped in 1st night of vacation here got the Brisket Burger with smoked beans and the Crab Melt. All whole, fresh ingredients and very much their own flavors. Loved the beans. Brisket was moist and tender. The crab cake melt with lobster cream was simply delightful. Definitely recommendFood: 5/5
My family and I went here for dinner. The service was great and they were so nice! It was our first time there and they were really patient and helpful. The food was great! We’ll be back!Recommended dishesCombo Platter, Sweet Potato Fries, Slaw, Pulled Chicken
Scoots is great.! My mom loves crabcake....yes it is full of crab and not a lot of filler! I had the sliders: one brisket, one chicken, one BBQ with fried pickles as my side. Everything was delicious as usual. It's always fun to take a road trip and find something new to eat each time. Parking: The resturant is located on the corner from Route 17 and TideMill Lane. They have ample parking, but the lot fills up fast. They open at 11, and sometimes by 11:10.... the parking lot is almost full. Kid-friendliness: They do offer a kids menu.
Honestly surprised that this place has such a high rating. The barbecue is plain and decent at best. We ordered the Scoots special which was bland pulled pork and a ketchup container's worth of coleslaw. Even corporate chains give you bigger complimentary sides. In addition, it was clear that regulars and locals were served first. We watched several people who ordered after us get their food before us. For the quality of food we got, it absolutely should not have taken that long. Unfortunately, their signature meal is not much to be proud of. I will say that the menu did have good value. Staff was friendly. I'd give 3/5 stars overall.
After seeing the rating for Scoot's I decided to give it a try, and regretfully I did. I don't know if either today was a bad day or if everyone who has rated it highly has never had good food and the jury is still out. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries and a water. The brisket was burned, hard, and dry. It was so dry that I had to continuously pour their bbq sauce onto it in order to not choke on the dryness. Having just come back from Texas I can tell you that this is not "Texas style" brisket. The best part of my meal was the water and the fries. The person at the counter where I placed my order was very friendly and that was appreciated. I went to find a table and it was dirty so I wiped it down myself and placed the number that I had been given on the corner. After 10 minutes a different person came to my table, took the number, and placed the tray on the table without saying anything. Definitely not a good look for customer service. While eating another group of people came in and went to a table that had also not been cleaned the table was empty when I arrived so it isn't as though someone just left and they asked if anyone cleans any of the tables because several others were dirty...this is not good for cleanliness standards. Needless to say, this is the worst brisket I have ever eaten in my life and I do not see me returning. Parking: The parking lot is a fairly good size but is poorly marked so pay attention when looking to park.
Scoots is the absolute best! We drove from Williamsburg to Gloucester just to enjoy their food. I adore their brisket and my folks liked the sliders. We thought the banana cream and coconut pies were delicious for dessert. The atmosphere outside on their lit, bricked patio is lovely, and the decor inside suits a BBQ place well. The staff have always been helpful and kind...so scoot on over to Scoots and pick up some take out for your next party or take your spouse out for a date night somewhere you can actually hear each other talk. Enjoy!! Kid-friendliness: My kids LOVE the sliders and hush puppies. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessibility is excellent outside, but there is plenty of space inside as far as width and room and booths or chairs or space go. All floors are level and easy to navigate. The bathrooms are clean and accessible, too.
Excellent food! The staff greeted me and assisted me upon arrival. The menu has a variety of delicious options. I enjoyed the sliced brisket sandwich ! The meat was tender and flavorful. The restaurant was also clean. Definitely try this place!Food: 5/5
I promised myself whenever heading to or from VA Beach that I would stop to eat here. Soooo glad I did. Everything, and I mean everything was delicious. They made you feel welcomed from the moment you walked in. The atmosphere is very family friendly, and the outdoor seating is very relaxing. You should definitely put this on you list of places to eat.
Went here because of an episode of Viginia Found on PBS. This episode was about Gloucester and the host raved about Scoots BBQ and I believe he said that it was the best in VA which would be amazing because we have some really good places. He is wrong. The service was not friendly. Everything is written on a big chalk board and if you have any questions as a first timer the girls at the counter look at your like you're stupid. The meats were dry and bland and the sauces wern't good enough to compensate. There is better BBQ to be found in Virginia.
