Upon arrival to the emergency room, they offer valet parking complimentary. They check the front door temperatures for Covid19 protocol: we got in the room less than 20 minutes. You will have to wait for a long time for Laboratory testing. Taylor, RN, BSN, was excellent and knowledgeable. The doctor was amazing as well.
ER was disgusting. Trash/Gloves left over from previous patients. I witnessed the rude older white lady yell at a mom pushing her son in a wheel chair that she let another patient in-front of her because she took to long to get to the nurses station. The waiting room was FILLED with people with NO Covid guidelines. Everyone was bumping into and coughing on each other. I’ve never had a good experience at this hospital except for when we have specialist appointments. They try SO hard to run up a bill. We arrived at the ER at 12:10am and finally admitted at 6:30am. I was told we could go home tomorrow and I’m sure that won’t be the case. They will claim something is wrong and will get more money from us.
We were visiting from out of state and terrified to go into an ER based on experiences at home. The team at Scottish Rite totally transformed our anxieties into comfort! From the moment we walked in the staff was SUPER confident in how to approach our daughter's case, leaving no time wasted. I was so impressed with how her care team of doctors and nurses worked seamlessly to ensure she received the best treatment and was not discharged until her pain was controlled and we knew what was happening. I am so pleased and grateful for how they took care of our baby. They also made sure she was laughing and in good spirits the whole time and that means so much for a child going into the ER. Thank you Dr. Young and Team! God bless
I have been to the ER at least 8 times in the last year and a half with my 19m old daughter and 80 percent of the time i have a great experience. This is our first time being admitted upstairs but I must shout out the ER doctor William! He was the best provider i have met to date! Didn’t rush me. Answered all my questions. Made me feel 100% comfortable and i thank him for that! Great job y’all
The staff are absolutely amazing. Every time I've taken my daughter in they have provided her the best care possible. As a new parent anxiety always get the best of you. At this facility the doctors and nurses have always made me feel comfortable. They are just all around Amazing!!
Stop the one caregiver nonsense. It's ridiculous and serves absolutely no purpose. If your waiting room is overcrowded, set your limit to 2 parents not 1. At the very least, allow the 2nd parent to come inside once the child is in a room. There is no overcrowding issue in the child's room. This policy is just malicious. Orlando Children's hospital is SO much better than CHOA. They care about their patients as well as the parents. If it were feasible to fly my kids to Orlando every time they need emergency care, I would never set foot in this hospital again. CHOA is an absolute disaster. They misdiagnosed my son with an eating disorder when it was actually an autonomic nervous system disorder. I advocated for my child for 10 days while he was in the hospital - to no avail. Nobody would listen to either of us. I gave them pages of research from pub med, NIH, and even CHOA's own website - but they still ignored everything my son said and tried to saddle him with a mental health diagnosis. I finally was able to get him discharged, went straight to a cardiologist and got the correct diagnosis. Disgusting. Don't bring your kids here if you have any other options. CHOA, if you're listening, please make a phone call down to Orlando and ask them to come give a seminar on how to run a top notch children's hospital. Please don't bother reaching out to apologize or ask what you could have done differently. Seriously, just make the phone call, reach out to someone who is doing it right, and ask them to show you the way.
The wait is ridiculous now; before they had a better way of running things. Now; it is insane!!!! I am in the hospital as I am typing this because just like me other parents are waiting for their Child to be seen in the Emergency Room side..and the hours you have to wait are just insane. I get every patient is different but the way we all have to be cramped up in here is just insane. All the chairs in the hospital are taken; there are chairs along the hallway with people and kids around. Trying to not take much space so we can all get through safely. A nurse sees that there is hardly any space an expectativas us to move much more close up in here. Like woman!!!!!! Do you not see how everyone in here is cramped up; children crying; parents waiting and you still expect for us to get more cramped up?! Awful; just awful. I'd be surprised if they make us now wait outside. Management should do better so it is not this crowded. Before in the waiting rooms kids where entertained with a movie and made it easier for the parents to wait with their Child. Now it's just a sad a** hospital. Been waiting for almost 5 hours. Whoever is in charge of running this hospital needs to have a better plan on running things. So; the parent and child does not have to go through all this fuss! I am pretty sure more parents agree with me. We are all tired and mad! Pretty sure staff is too.
11/09/22 my daughter ran a fever of 105.0F & I decided to bring her to Scottish Rite for evaluation. Once seen by Dr. Kina Goodman, I felt she was rushing and she did not examine or run any test on my kid but decided to diagnose my child by "looking at her". I explained not only is that unethical but horrible medical practice! This is why there are tests, so that they can determine the diagnosis of a patient. She then asked me if I was sure I wanted the FLU test done because it would take hours to get back. I could NOT believe her! Why would I not want to know the reasoning behind my child's illness? What would be any other reason to be present in an ER? Also, her FLU/COVID test came back NEGATIVE & has other things going on! So "looking" at a patient is NOT enough!
The doctors here have absolutely ZERO bedside manner!! I am new to the area and have had to come here twice. Each time I received the worst attitudes from the doctors. This is a children’s hospital, if you do not like your job go to a regular ER. You are working with exhausted, sick and tired children AND parents. It’s completely unfair to treat people and their children do disrespectful. I will NEVER come back to this establishment, nor will I recommend this hospital to anyone. Get better doctors!! Keep your nurses who are wonderful and you’re admitting staff who show more empathy than the person who carries the degree!
This was the worst experience I’ve ever received. The staff acted like they didn’t even want to serve me. I was told I’d be transferred here for my child to be monitored overnight. Instead I was greeted with a staff who said I didn’t need that after waiting for my transfer for 5 1/2 hours. I was given a 90 minute blood test because they didn’t want to waste time with me. I was also rushed out of my room because they wanted to give my room to someone else. I also was asked by a nurse who didn’t want to work that I have the option of refusing service. They didn’t think my child needed the transfer from the previous hospital. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone. The nicest person there is the lady that gets your insurance. She was genuine and sweet. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Bad experience. To say this is the best hospital is a slap in the face. It’s also extremely filthy.
