Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. Together, we can find a cure for cancer.

In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern – cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising nearly $5 billion to fight cancer.
The hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.
Raising donations for participation in Relay For Life is fun as well as challenging.
There are so many people and organizations in your community that want to contribute. It is simply a matter of a creative approach. Participants seek donations rather than pledges from family, friends and associates.
Most fundraising is done prior to, and at, the Relay For Life event, although many teams choose to fundraise year-round.
Remember...
Everyone is a potential donor!
Be very positive when you ask for money. Do not be apologetic, this is a worthy cause! Most people have been touched by cancer in some way. When fundraising, never use the words sell, purchase, or buy per ACS regulations. Always use the words “for a donation”.
Start Early! Don't Procrastinate! Think Positive!
