Where to begin? Huge clinic got lost then was found, Took dad to his appointment for surgery group for ascension. The building is also a part of UT super confusing but I am all about first impressions, feeling welcomed and taken care of. The receptionist Anisa was very nice, excellent customer service. Smiled and greeted Dad as if she knew us. For dad he felt welcomed immediately. We witnessed a very loud patient seemed to be upset or just confused but my did she handle the situation very professionally and calmly still while taking care of other patients. The staff was great aside the very long wait they all showed Dad care he did not feel like he was wasting his time. To feel this welcomed at a clinic I would so come back. Thank you Ascension Group you all rock
Disorganized, unsympathetic receptionists. My doc referred me to Seton for cancer testing. I called them several days after the referral was faxed over and was told, "We don't have your referral. Please don't call us. We will call you when we receive it and are ready to book an appt." Well ok then. I waited three weeks, nothing. Called them again, confirmed the fax number was correct it was, and had my doc's office fax it again They did, I saw the send-receipts from both referrals. Again I called Seton to schedule and once again a snippy receptionist told me they didn't have it, quit calling, etc. I've moved on to another practice, but this nonsense wasted more than a month of diagnostic time.
If you are looking to see an actual, licensed physician who has been practicing medicine for years, you won't find that here. We arrived at 12:30 & had to flag someone down in the hall at 1:45 to find out why the doctor hadn't been in to see us. We were told "The residents just got out of surgery and will be over here soon. We didn't forget about you." First, not a single person notified us, as we sat alone for well over an hour, that anyone was running late or that, most importantly, we wouldn't be seeing an actual doctor. The scheduling staff should have told us we wouldn't be seeing an actual surgeon when i asked and made the appointment. They told me we would be seeing the doctor. I believe it is false advertising and withholding information to allow a patient to believe they'll see a surgeon when they'll only see a rotating group of residents. How could we be scheduled for a recheck appointment when none of the residents they want to send in have ever seen the patient initially? Are we supposed to trust an inexperienced residents opinion on wether or not an open wound is healing properly and/or ready for a skin graft? Are we supposed to trust a resident to change a wound vac? Even in the hospital, trained wound care specialists changed his vac and now licensed wound care nurses do it, so why should We trust just a resident to properly treat a large, open wound? We have never once, even while in the hospital, seen the actual doctor who is assigned to our case. We only saw residents. Just because Dell Seton is a learning hospital does not mean a patient should not get to be treated by an actual physician. We were completely ignored during this recheck appointment and walked out of the building at 2:35, still without anyone checking on us or talking to us at all. We stopped at the front desk to tell the receptionist we were done waiting. My spouse had specifically taken his pain medication before this appointment, as this office had directed, so he could tolerate a wound vac change which is very painful. Since they did even remotely stay on schedule, his window of optimal effectiveness on his medication had passed, and there was no way he could tolerate having his dressings on his large and open wound changed. The receptionist said "Do you want me to tell the nurse?" Honestly, we don't care who you tell. None of you effectively communicate in this office. Due to the complete neglect and absolute lack of care that we were shown at this establishment, not to mention, deceitful practices and withholding important information a patient needs to make an informed decision, we will be searching for a licensed surgeon who actually treats the patient themselves and does not rely on residents to experiment on patients. This particular surgical group deferred all treatment to my spouse's pcp after the initial surgery which his assigned doctor didn't even perform. This group will not prescribe medications or treat after the surgery. Our pcp found that odd, as it never happened this way with other surgeons. Why would a surgeon who performed the surgery not follow up and continue to treat the patient after the surgery? We learned the reason they defer is because residents aren't actual doctors and cannot write prescriptions or prescribe treatments, hence this groups demand, in writing via the hospital discharge, that you have your pcp to treat after the surgery, because you will never see an actual surgeon at this group. All of this stated in writing. So, what exactly, does this group actually do? For us, it was withhold information prior to the appointment I was assured We would see the surgeon for the recheck, make us wait for 2 hours, neglect us completely, and treat us substandardly. If you are looking for a surgeon, go elsewhere so that you can be seen by an actual surgeon, and make sure they are affiliated with a hospital other than DELL Seton, as you will see only residents during your hospital stay, if your visit was anything like ours. Sorely disappointed in the extreme lack of care we were shown.
They make it impossible to get a hold off and schedule an appointment. I've never had such horrible care in my life. They forward you to a machine that they check at the end of the day. The operators are never available. I've been trying to schedule surgery for my father with them for the past month already. Something needs to change here because this is just ridiculous.
Professional and attentive personnel. Noisy waiting room, I wish people had more consideration for others.
